Never played Axecliff.
Lyme Regis is OK but I would avoid Bridport. A couple of decent holes but the only defence is the long rough that borders nearly every fairway. The last time I played there it was almost knee high in places and really thick, not that wispy stuff.

Would agree with Srixon1. Both Lyme and Bridport are cliff top courses and hence prone to fog so pick a good day. Lyme is the better test in my opinion but both can be tough in the wind.

You may want to consider Taunton and Pickerage which is an interesting test.

If you are coming down the M5 and thinking Taunton certainly consider Oake Manor, Taunton and Pickeridge is only good if you enjoy a hard walk to go with good golf. Before you get to Taunton a good track is Enmore Park just West of Bridgewater.

Of the ones you mention Lyme Regis is the best by a long way you just to check before you go to see that it is open, it often gets closed due to fog rolling in off the sea.
