...for me at any rate. Played Libbaton Golf Club yesterday, they had an open day, 9 holes for free with a voucher and ten quid if you wanted to do 18 (usual price 30 quid). Nice course, unusual for the area, as it's a classic parkland setting, more like the courses I used to play in Essex but enjoyable.

Anyway, the first of the subject line, I had two birdies (gross that is)... and didn't break 100! Pretty sure I've never done that before! Any other time I've had two birdies I've shot in the low 80s, very odd round, to say the least!

I've got a feeling something's happened to my putter though, I've had it since I was 18 (so 18 years) and I've played well with it but I couldn't get the ball within 6 feet of the hole on anything over about 12 feet and it now makes a slightly odd noise and the sweet spot just seems to have disappeared, one of my partners remarked on it on the 16th, so maybe the old girl's had it.

I've got an old Sam Snead putter I found in the house after we moved in, someone had been using it to stir paint but I cleaned it up and it's quite nice, got a lovely feel when you catch the sweet spot but the spot is miniscule, there's no room for error, so your stroke has to be on song. I'll try it next time I go out and if it improves things I'll have to think about getting a new one, which is a shame, the old faithful has served me well for a long time and I've never wanted to change it, on principle really, I can putt well with it, so if I'm not I know it's not the putter's fault, it's mine but now, if it is broken, I won't have much choice I guess.

I still have my original Anser 2 from way back in the 80's and although I rarely use it these days I can't bear to get rid and keep it "just in case". Could it just be the head is a little loose which could be easily fixed.

Yes it could be loose, I can't remember anything happening that might have caused that but given its age it's something I need to consider. Trouble is I've had my eye on a Yes Tracy II for a while now! :D
