I played with two friends and their mate the other day and he putts with one hand with the other hand behind his back. I was shocked when he first did it but it seemed to work pretty well for him. Has anyone else seen something similar or weirder?

There are people out there who play golf who only have one arm.... they don't get the choice and some are brilliant putters.

This is a weird stroke for a big fella...

anyone bend over this much when they putt?

I saw this guy once, he was only practising though, but he had these two black sticks. One under each arm and they seemed to be joined together and hooked under the putter.

Totally bonkers!

There's a couple of guys on the Pro Tours who have really long putters wedged into their gut, I don't know if you've seen them but they look ridiculous

There's a fella at out place that uses a broom handle, only he doesn't anchor it to his chest... it sort of wobbles about in mid air. I watched him on the putting green one morning. He didn't hole a single thing

I know a guy who lines his putt up from behind his ball and then positions his putter head a couple of inches behind the ball so the blade is pointing along the target line. Holding the putter in this position he then walks to the side and takes his stance, being carefull not to move the putter head . The last thing he does is turns his putter to the address position, presumably hoping that he has turned it exactly 90 degrees. There is nothing remarkable about the stroke itself or his ability to actually make putts.

A Captain at one of my previous clubs was a right handed golfer but when he was learning the game the only putter he had was his dad's old left handed putter. He learnt using that and still putts the 'wrong' way now. Nothing remarkable in his stroke though, nor the results for anyone looking for a silver bullet to putting woes!

I don't think that is particularly rare. The best lady player at my club plays right-handed but putts left-handed.

There is a chap at the club with an extraordinary putting stroke. He addresses the ball in the normal way, but then the line of the stroke is an extreme in-to-out, hitting the ball a sort of "glancing blow" at about 45 degrees. Amazingly he seems to sink putts as well as most other players with a similar handicap.

My last club had a guy who putted one handed while his other hand was in his trouser pocket- regularly 3 putted:smirk:

It could be argued he was holding 2 shafts and anchoring
