Been playing a long while now and have used a few different types of irons. At the minute I've got a set of Mizuno irons and at the start they were slightly heavier than what I have used before. Since altering the lies, shafts and grips they seem to have lost their touch and feel heavier, I may be horrifically wrong to think this.

If I'm looking for a set of irons which seems to feel light weight and allow a margin in order to alter them if need be. What brand and products should I be looking for? I'm a low double digit handicapper and have a good understanding on clubs and the latest technology. Help me with your best advice!

You have answered your own question - how a club feels is a function of shaft, shaft length and grip (weight and tape).

Easiest way to reset your current ones will probably be via grips (they come in a lot of different weights!)

Generally club heads will be very similar weights across sets.

You need to get the swing weight of your clubs checked. Not sure that changing the grips would have that much affect.

You can alter the total weight and trick the swing weight scale with a grip change. Lighter grips will move the balance point towards the head and make it feel heavier swing weight, heavier grips will move the weight towards the butt and make it feel lighter! As Duncan said, most iron heads weigh the same across the different brands, What shafts and grips have you got in the mizunos?

Swing weight is only one measure of how a club feels to swing - swap out an 85g shaft for a 120 one then exchange 25g grips for 50 and you might have the same swing weight but very very different feeling clubs!

The key point is that the club heads aren't normally the big variable in the equation.

I agree with the others, swing weight is a relative feel. When I played cricket to make a heavy bat lighter to swing we fitted 2 or 3 grips to put more weight at the top
Basically heavier shafts & grips will reduce the sw

I've got Dynamic Golds, I think, in them at the minute with Mid-size multi compound grips.

Thanks for your help guys, I guess if i'm to get new clubs its best to get them fitted with this in mind, or just buy some with the shafts set to a lighter weight
