Hello All

at the start of 2013, i weighed 16st 7lbs. i hit 3 months crash diet and my end of april i reached 13st 10lbs and i am pleased to say i have kept it off, even with spending a month in hospital with my lad

My question is this. My last 3 rounds have been very odd. I'm hitting it further, Putting has all of a sudden seen a welcome improvement but my driver is abysmal. My stock "bad" shot was a Hook as take the club back on a inside line and attacking the same way. After 36 holes today i find myself in a position not knowing where my tee shot is going. it was left, right, everywhere. no consistent bad shot or direction. Irons have been ok, but have been "drawing" more than usual.

I have been told that as my "gut" is substantially reduced (from a 40" to 36") i could be swinging it even more on a inside line and getting the driver trapped miles behind my body. without filming it , i coundn't tell you but would losing weight have such a drastic impact on my game??

Yes!

It's likely you'll have to re-learn your own swing.

Tendency after weight loss is often to get too quick. Balance is also affected, which is more likely to explain the 'no idea where it's going' issue.

Try swinging shorter and 'easier'. Swing should flow and the better contact will more than make up for any perceived loss of swing speed.

I know an overweight +4-capper who cant swing at all when he gets to a better size!

I was never that big, but I have dropped from almost 13st to just over 11 in the past year. It played havoc with my posture and swing, needed a bunch of lessons recently to get me set back to swinging well. I think my weight loss did make a difference, now swinging smoother and not as aggressive. I have lost some distance, but gained control (ish) but the biggest change was my balance, I was all over the place until my setup was changed and that's what was throwing me off.

Thumbs up to you for the weight loss! Well done! Swing easy!

this

haven't lost any recently :( but when I did I found I was swinging longer and faster (to keep the same tempo) - it felt the same but wasn't; if that makes sense.

working through it I always ended up a lot better, and obviously less tired towards the end of the round (after the 3rd hole :))

good luck

I found the same when I lost it,put it back on mind and swing is back to normal.
It is all to do with relearning rhythm.
Which diet was it btw
