Anyone out there based around Boro looking for a playing partner?

The only person I know who plays is my brother and he lives in Carlisle and due to many commitments we can't play as often as we'd like and playing lone golf is getting a bit demoralising.

I'm a full 28 handicap and a proper duffer but I'm determined to improve and want to play more courses, more often.

Because I'm still very much a hacker, I've stick to the Municipal and Ingleby Barwick so far, both pretty cheap. Where abouts do you play?

Im not a member anywhere at the minute so just play all over. Played Woodham on Friday, which is a nice course. Is a bit tight on the drives and I lost a few balls and shot 90.

Played the muni this morning. Lost a few again but also missed about 4 shortish birdie putts and ended up with 85.

I dont have an official handicap but Golfshake gave me a 14.1. Still got this weekends cards to put on so that might go up based on Friday.

The muni is a nice course now and I think its worth the extra couple of quid to play the better course. Throston in Hartlepool is nice and easy for a bit of confidence.

take it you've not been playing long? Where in boro you from? I am originally from Redcar but moved here 3 years ago.

I've played on and off for a couple of years but not seriously. I just lack rounds and because I don't play often, I lack the drive to get out and hit the range. I can hit decent shots but then hit meltdown.

Not from the area originally, moved here from Northern Ireland two years ago to shack up with HID who's a local.

The muni's good value for money, if a little bland in places.

My brother has recently decided to retire from the course for the winter to reconstruct his game so looking for someone to play with on weekends when the weather holds up. I'm now playing around a 20 handicap so not quite as bad as I was. :)
