Weekend breaks?

Madrid, Milan, Prague and although I haven't been yet, I believe Budapest is very nice.
Budapest is great for a 4/5 day break. Cheap and lots to see. Opera house is stunning. Take your trunks for the thermal spas. Loads of history, and no high rises. no building can be higher than the Parliament building, which is similar to our Houses of Parliament.

Any specific parts of Barcelona to aim for in particular
Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's park and apartments. There is a hop on and off open top bus which is great for getting you around and giving you an idea of where to go. Olympic Park is interesting. You are a man, do the Camp Nou tour. Indoor food market near Las Ramblas is really good fun. Shopping is great, no really.
In the evening there is a great little square in the gothic quarter, I think calle argenteria. It doesn't look much when you get to the top of the street but half way down it is great. Lovely tapas bars and great atmosphere. Not a fan of Las Ramblas at night, too many stag and hen parties.
If you don't enjoy Barcelona as a couple then i don't know where you would enjoy.

Looking to take the misses away for a few nights, somewhere a shortish flight where there's a bit to do during the day and not hammering down with rain.

Was thinking Barcelona, but open to other suggestions

Barcelona is fabulous. So much to see and do. I'd definitely recommend it.

The Olympic Park is cracking. Really nice setting on top of Montjuic overlooking the city. Cant go wrong with the Camp Nou, incredible stadium, the tour is really good. I would recommend a bimble down La Rambla, a trip to one of the beaches, and a trixi ride (a sort of modern rickshaw) ride around the Barri Gotic.

Milan. Plenty to see and buy...

Duomo and the castle are worth a look.

Can be pricy though.

Zurich is quite nice too

I'm a big fan of Jersey, weather is a bit better than the south of England. Some great restaurants and a few lively pubs in St Helier. Plus you don't have to learn a foreign lingo ;)

Rooter - What do you think of Vienna? It looks lovely but my wife thinks we are not old enough for it yet!

If I may.......

Vienna is a lovely city with tonnes of museums and cultural things to do in the day. Nightime isnt buzzing though, but lots of restaurants, although do have lots of cultural options of an evening. We went to a lovely theatre were they had a mix of things in one night like a soloist, an orchestra, ballet etc Not a party city though.

Walking home in the day is hard to avoid the cake shops though, the're everywhere.

We flew into Bratislava, as Vienna is only an hour on the coach away, but didnt see much of it, maybe both together could be good.

Liked Jersey but wasnt overly keen on St Helier. Preferred Guernsey as a whole and it offers the chance of trips to Herm and Sark.
