Weather today.

I lost all power at 4.00pm yesterday. It came back at around 7.30pm, all was good.
At 1.00am this morning I was trying to stem the flow of water running down one of my bedroom walls when the power went again.
The wind & rain was awesome and the power was still off when I woke up this morning.
It came back at around 2.15pm. I spent this morning repairing my sister's fence, which had damaged her car on it's way past, and this afternoon sorting out the rain's entrance into my bedroom!
Happy days.
Then I realised I am still better off than probably 90% of the world's population, it's a perspective thing really.

And in the last two hours the river Wey, just down the road, has risen a goog few feet & roads are now being closed off .

Was out in it today in Merston, road flooded by BP garage, got diverted only to find a massive fallen tree across the entire road - it was so big you couldn't see the other side of it. Tried to get to the address I was looking for but not knowing the local area decided to abandon it and try again on Friday instead.

Headed back to base but got diverted 3 times due to flooded roads. I was trying to get back to the M25 as I knew that wouldn't be flooded, so managed to get north of Reigate and joined M25 via Reigate Hill. Even that was slow going as a small tree was covering half the road.
Most frustrating journey of the year!!

Just watched the BBC news and had a look through their website, I thought Surrey had got off quite lightly from what I'd seen locally untilI saw all this. Hope you got your place sorted okay Slime, don't know how bad your sister's car is but if it is something that is a Chips Away type job rather than insurance then I can recommend someone, no connection other than being a satisfied customer. Merry Christmas.

Thanks for that B in M, I really appreciate the thought.
The car's got a busted rear light lens & a few small dents. It's of an age that it's probably not worth worrying about, but hey, that's her call.
My son is working about ½ a mile away & they've recently had the fire brigade in telling everyone to get home as soon as they can as the flooding is getting worse by the minute.
He set off about ½ an hour ago on a 1½ mile journey home and has just texted me to say he's finally got home!
Apparently virtually every road in Godalming centre is closed due to flooding.

Well, it's just gone 3.00pm and the leccy has just come back on for the first time today!
We thankfully have a gas oven ....................... the food was tops, thanks Mrs Slime.
The flooding around us is awful, and although it's receded quite a bit since last night, it's due to get worse over the next couple of days.
At least I can now go online & wish everyone a fabulous Xmas and new year period.
All the best & stay safe,

Slime.

Busy times for all doing service to get power and gas back and all trying to keep flooding away ...they often do a very good job and there families have to celebrate without them and if they get home--they probably are exhausted...

Hopae all which are affected by the flooding will keep safe and a bow for those helping them out.....
