Waterproof suit purchase.

I'm hoping I can get away without the suit for September and buy one for October onwards. I think I'm going to go for the Proquip one everyone has mentioned. Looks good for the price and as you say if it's good enough for the Ryder Cup team....

I've just thought oh sod it i'll order now but the jacket sizes do not correspond the the trouser sizes. They have jackets in medium or large but only small or extra large trousers, gutted. May just have the get a jacket.

No, I mean that at that price they don't have many left, so the more "usual" sizes go quickly. So what's left is a bit of a lottery.
I have no idea how 6' 2" @ 17 stone translates into an actual size.

Not slim anyway lol

Dont know whether they have my size..hhhmmm

Not very good.

I order three complete Proquip suits. 2x of the £129.99 ones and one of the £69.99 ones. Now I'm pretty short 5'8 ish, not to fat 12st 8 ish, with a little bit of a beer belly. Normal clothes from Next, Burton etc I'm either a medium or large depending on the style of top and trousers either 34 or 32 waist, usually suit trousers 34 and jeans 32. So pretty normal.

The suits I ordered were 2 medium jackets, 1 large, and trousers 2 medium with 29" & 31" leg and one large with 31" leg.

All of it was massive!

I didn't even try on the large jacket. My Mrs laughed when I put on the medium as it swamped me I reckon we could of both got in it! The trousers weren't much better, the medium looked like Mc Hammer trousers, good length but massive round the hips and waist.

So it all needs sending back for a refund.

Thing is, I also tried this recently with two Ping jakcets, Tornado I think they were called. Again, the medium was too big. Is this a feature in a golf jacket? I wanted it to me fairly snug so that I still had movement but not masses of over hang etc that could affect my swing.

I may try the smalls from now on.

Luckily September looks to be quite hot down here in Kent so I wont have to worry about this for a few more weeks.

Rumour was that you asked in Next "have you got a suit in stock that would fit me" and the answer was " if we have Sir, someones going to get the sack"

My undertanding on waterproof clothing is that it is supposed be be big fitting for a couple of reasons.

Firstly to take into account layers already being worn, like trousers for example. My Proquip Tourflex slide over the top of my trousers easilly. The last thing you want is to be struggling to get our wet weather gear while it's persisting it down.

Same with the jacket. It has to be a tad big to allow for layers already being worn and allow freedom of movement for your swing.

If the suit is mahoosive I.E hanging off you, then that's a different story.

I think at most Id have on underneath it would be a t shirt otherwise i'll be too hot. It would be snug if I had a tech tshirt, t shirt and jumper but its never that cold down south to warrant that much clothing.

So then Ash, you'd say it was big sizing ? what website did you get them from ?

Also anyone else any others recommended £100 and less? Should i be swerving the Nike ones im drawn to ?

The NIke ones, from memort, only have a 12 month waterproof guarantee. You can get between 3 and 5 years from other manufacturers for the same money, or maybe less.

All mentioned above are good. I'm personally biased towards Proquip. In my eyes they make the best waterproofs for the cash you pay.

I'd happily get them but im worried about the sizing. In your opinion are they big fitting ?

As I said above:

I'm 6ft and 14 stone. Jacket is a tad big, however that comes in handy as I get full range of motion and it doesn't restrict my swing.

The trousers are probably bang on, although again a tad big, but you'd want this when putting them on over an existing pair of trousers if you get caught in a downpour on the course.

They also have an elasticated waist and draw string to tighen them up about the waist if they are fractionally too big.

I know you said you were quite tall and a little heavier than me. What waist trouser do you take??
