As this is my first year as a club member I want to ensure I'm able to play during the wet winter months. So I need some decent waterproofs.

My current set up is a pair of water proof trousers from MountainLife. We have an outlet in our town and I got them there about £20 I think they were.

I'm not sure weather to stick with these or look at getting a golf specific suit? I reckon I've got about a £100-£150 budget.

What does everyone else use?

I got a 3 piece set for £60 when I first started, they worked a treat but the quality showed through when eventually things started to break. I still have two parts of the 3 piece set, the wind cheater and the trousers, both in perfect working order! The waterproof top has unfortunately not lasted so well with the elastic ties coming loose and the zip messing up.

If you do invest in an expensive set my advice is look after it well and it will look after you!

I invested in a set of Galvin Green waterproofs...against my natural instinct as a Yorkshireman...but have never regretted it as they not only keep me totally dry but are comfortable to wear and don't hinder my play at all...I remain as bad in the wet as in the dry!

I hate the fact there are no good shops near me where I can go try stuff on. It's always a pain ordering various pieces in different sizes and having to send stuff back.

What model mizuno? I've seen a few at good prices.

I think I've decided to go over the outlet again and look in a few of the outdoor shops for some trousers. We have Mountian Life, Togg, Tresspass and a couple of others so I might get some bargins.

Then I'll spend my budget on a golf make jacket.

being of limited hight and round shape I always float between medium and large so ordering on line always means trying both and sending one back. Thankfully, these days most mediums fit.

Just trying to get a set now.
How hard can it be be to make the pants in a long leg?

Just got the Mizuno Impermalite through the post today.
Look great but not even close on the fit, both jacket and pants.
Back to the drawing board.

Think it is an Impermalite. Great jacket, you can remove the sleeves, it has a longer back so that water can drop on to the waterproof trousers as opposed to down the back of your shirt, plenty of pockets and it's great at keeping the wind out as well.

I've got a Nike Storm Fit which has been superb for 4 years. The sleeves zip off above the elbow, so you can play in full sleeves or short.

Should be able to pick these up for under £100 too.

Waterproof suits have never appealed to me. Not sure I like thing matching like when I was five and had matching sets of all my clothes!

I like a good pair of waterproof trousers, a good waterproof top, a cap and then a nice dry towel for when I get back to the car!
