Waterproof Cart Bags

Are they worth it? They're almost double the price over their non-waterproof alternatives for some reason. Surely they don't need special material, just waterproof. It's not like a jacket where it needs to be breathable.

Are the bag covers an absolute faff to mess around with? Thinking of buying a normal bag and getting a cover for when it rains.

I've never bothered with a waterproof bag. I used to just have a plastic bag in one of the pockets to put my wallet in, and for anything else in the bag - I don't think there's anything that would be a disaster if it got slightly damp. It doesn't stop your club grips getting wet because you pull them in and out of the bag to use them obviously. So I'm not really sure of the benefit.

One problem I've found with waterproof bags is the pockets.
They tend to open less and don't seem as big
They also, sometimes, seem to be at slightly odd angles, I presume to not let water pool as it will eventually find a way through.
I think you need to decide how often you're going to play in the sort of rain that would warrant a waterproof bag.
Putting things in plastic bags is OK but all your extra layers, gloves etc are going to need one and golf bags can take an age to dry out.

Ive just brought one!

I had a stand bag that I was strapping to my new trolley and it flooded one day when it rained heavy! Keys, wallet everything soaked!

I currently use a H2No stand bag on my trolley and it keeps moving around. Doesn't have space for much stuff, and think a cart bag would overall be better.

I've got a titleist stadry cart bag and it's been good so far - does what it says on the tin and looks good too (to my eye anyway)

I have used a waterproof bag for years well worth the the money and to me waterproof covers are a real nuisance.

If you do a bit of shopping around you do not need to pay the sort of money you are asked just because the bag has a well known manufacturers name on it.

The bag I currently use is exactly the same as the Callaway bag of the time but was nearly half the price.

I have a Titleist Staydry and a Sun Mountain H2O carry bag I use the H2O when its tipping as I find it better and both are 100% better that the silly bag covers that are just more trouble than they are worth

Another Titleist StaDry user here. I've had mine now for almost 4 years. Is it worth it? For me, absolutely. I've played in various forms of rain and it's withstood all of them and kept the contents dry. I never seem to have the issues other have on here in terms of access to the pockets on this bag although my Bagboy waterproof carry bag has slightly tighter pockets.

Not in my opinion. I brought a Ping rain cover. Much cheaper and keeps everything perfectly dry.

I got a black and red camo version of the same bag! Pockets and design are the same, just not quite such a "striking" design They were half the price of any other waterproof bag I found though, and it really is great quality!

I’ve got the same bag - Druid black, red and grey camo, looks really nice in reality. The quality is really good.

To be fair, some of the other designs are ‘out there’!

I used to stick a rain cover on my bag when it was raining, but it was a real pain getting at the pockets of the bag. I now have a H2NO Elite cart bag, and it's miles better. Yes, some of the smaller pockets dont have zips that are supoer easy to open, but then they're waterproof. The other thing that really is good is the rain hood. It's way longer and deeper than any other hood I have had, and doesn't ride up over the bag edge.
I wouldnt return to a non waterproof bag, the cost far outweighs the issue of wet keys/wallet/ bag contents.

Never had a problem. Why do you need to keep going to the pockets. A quick slurp of drink waiting between shots, maybe another ball and maybe a dry glove. That's about it

More the point where it rains and they realise that everythings getting wet, the panic to get the cover out, the condomlike struggle to get it on the bag before they realise its too wet and everythings wet already, then they spend the rest of the round moaning about wet grips etc

OK I give you that. If the forecast is that bad or the rain forecast to be prolonged I'll tend to stick it on before going out rather than risk the ridicule doing it mid round. If not I've usually got the normal hood I can slip on much easier if it's a heavy shower

Bought an Ooul cart bag when they went on sale at our place, £129. It is the danglies. As Katz says, essential for our weather. Never had a single problem with zips etc. I did have a titliest carry bag for winter in which the Velcro straps on the hood kept coming away. Not carrying anyone so it’s gathering dust In the garage. One thing I do find with waterproof bags. They are so easy to clean.

I use the Stewart Golf rain cover. Had it years take about 45s to put on three sets of double zips allows you to set them to be able to get into each area of bag simply. Comes with a little sack to attach to bag and keep it in can’t fault it.
