Was bound to happen eventually

Oh dear god, please no!

The average round takes long enough with slow play these days, let alone with having techno-geeks walking up and down the fairways looking at and analysing every shot they play.

Isnt it going just a little too far now? :(

Yes it is, but it would be handy for tracking your ball if you've shanked it if they developed it.

I bet ball manufacturers would be against it though. Golfers wouldn't have to buy nearly as many balls as they'd never (well, rarely) lose one!

I really don't need to see a replay of a vast majority of my shots.

Also, that ball will be like a brick, you won't lose it because it won't go more than 100 yards....downwind

Technology will kill golf...it's already started with the adjustable driver and gps devices.

It's an imperfect game and the participants know that.Sure, losing a ball can be frustrating, but the ability to find any ball takes the major element of wanting to improve away from the game.

This has to be aimed at most high to mid handicappers because low ones rarely lose balls
The ball will cost more
The soft coating can't take it: a premium ball is knackered after a round or two if you don't lose it and goes in the practice bag
Normally when I lose a ball knowing exactly where it is won't help me get it back
Would be probably useful once or twice a round but normally with the help of playing partners it's services would be rendered useless
Golf ball companies want to sell more not less balls so they won't invest
And critically as is summed up in conclusion

"It can help you to a certain extent," says Mr Nikitaidis, "but still you need to swing the club."

For all the above reasons I'm not interest and because of that...

...I'm out!

Annoying for those times when you don't want to find your original ball, like when you stick your first one on par three deep in the trees and then almost without caring whack your provisional to 4 feet...

Actually there wont be provisionals at all anymore I guess, will have to change the rules of golf to accomodate. Cant have people clambering into the trees to get their ball and then having to go all the way back to the tee when they call it unplayable!!
