Waist/Hight Size

Agree but using one type of measurement is not good enough. Doctors no longer use BMI on its own, I know mine doesn't. Equally this is back of the fag packet stuff.

Most people are aware if they are overweight or obese. They may kid themselves otherwise but in reality they know. They just choose to do nothing about it.

People get to touchy about weight and issues surrounding their weight, the guidelines are given as a top end number and is fair imo. I am 6ft and have a 34 inch waist so just about fit in, I generally watch what I eat but it does get away from me around Christmas and needs to be realed in Jan and Feb, if I am honest I would say I am on the edges of what I would consider healthy. The guidelines are not perfect but are not intended to be, they are merely a you may need to look at what you eat point without getting into the minefield that is your weight and your BMI. If adults can't be honest its no wonder we have a country full of overweight kids.

I would be fine if only I was 4" taller! However I know from my pilot's medical that I do not have diabetes, as it's one of the things they test for.

I don't need a bmi check to know I'm overweight. I just blame it on my slow metabolism....... And my really fast pie arm:D
