I've just watched the students in the USA saying in mass ralley's on gun issues, effectively "If they dont do what we want, we will vote them out "

Of course these innocents have all been brainwashed by their leftie teachers against the Tories, and into why leaving the EU is such a bad thing - and so shouldn't be listened too that seriously - once they grow up they'll understand (though a recent poll suggests many young voters are actually supportive of leaving the EU - so either they are confused and haven't been brainwashed at all - or maybe they have - by the right and Leavers?).
Meanwhile the young people in the USA aren't at all confused or too young to understand - although the NRA might disagree. Meanwhile Trump remains utterly confused and baffled about what to do.

There in lies the problem.
Easy for em to be vocal via social media, but too idle to get to the polls.
On this subject they can become a one issue pressure group and that may be more effective. They don't have to get numbers in a poll, they just have to make momentum, catch a mood, frighten politicians. Perception of a major movement may be enough to make changes, even if small ones.

I think he was drawing an attempted satirical analogy between the areas the young people feel passionate about in the US and the ones they feel passionate about here.
There is a strong argument that in the US the young people are being bequeathed an uncertain economy, environmental challenges, starting life in a massive amount of debt if you go to further education, isolationist insular policies and outlook and gun laws that mean they do not feel safe in schools. Of which the solution from the 'grown ups' is to arm the teachers.
Over here we are bequeathing much the same, apart from crazy gun laws but with an added screwed up property market that is essentially based around people making money from it, as opposed to providing all sorts of housing for all the population. Brexit is the way the isolationism is manifesting itself over here, building a pointless wall is the way it is over there. Tomato, tomayto. So no wonder the young are getting angry.

Sorry but that is nothing but a contrived excuse for another man's obsession which you appear to be in danger of sharing.
In the USA the protest seems to be a stand-alone issue although obviously there will be other issues on which many of them may agree.
It does these protesters and their cause no good at all for it to be used to add credence to an entirely unrelated argument

Guns in the USA are, after centuries, too commonplace. In the UK guns are illegal but those who want them have ways of getting access. The usa may pass laws but, I fear, it will make little difference to the deranged.

See Remington are going bust. Lawsuits costs and falling sales to blame.
Sorry for those losing jobs and those owed by the company who will probably not get paid and those too that use Remington firearms responsibly for hunting/sport but this being the oldest gun manufacturer in the US it is significant I think.
The manufacturers have to get onboard with controls too, think some (unsure about Remington) have been happy to profiteer whilst being protected by the US constitution and gun lobby, seems like Remington are paying the price for that.
Who'd invest to save the company in the current political climate?
