It's just daft, they're setting themselves up to get in some serious trouble.

Imagine this scenario which could actually happen. Master's leader is a -8 after two days. Top 70 & ties (for arguments sake 78 players) are at +2 (Vijay included). Vijay birdies his last hole to mean that he is in 70th place at +1. Those 7 guys miss out on any pay whatsoever, and with the Masters being as tight as it is, one of those could have easily climbed into the top 20 for a big payday!

I know this is a very extreme idea, and one very unlikely to happen. But if he is found guilty and a scenario like the one above were to happen, there's the remote possibility that players could sue the Tour for loss of earnings. More farfetched trials have gone to court in the US ...

The chances of anything like this happening are extremely slim, but why even risk putting yourself in that position for a guy who has already admitted using a banned substance.

If the leader is -8 then +2 get in on account of being within 10 of the lead but the point is valid! he could potentially cause a group of players to miss the cut that wouldn't have done so had he not played, so if he's DQed retrospectively they would have a serious case (IMO)!

It's a dangerous precedent to set if they let him off basically saying ignorance is a decent enough disclaimer to get away with anything, and at worst and advert saying take any drugs you want if you can prove they don't make a difference!

Let's just say he does win the tournament (as unlikely as it is!) yes everyone get promoted a place, but as Imurg said no-one wants to get their green jacket in the post 3 months later and it just turns this event ("the best run tournament in the world") and every other tournament Vijay's entered since the revelation into a major farce and an avoidable one. Should have been suspended when the news broke and then a decision made in the 6months(?) since!

According to the Express on Tuesday the Augusta National GC are happy to allow him a place as a past winner on the grounds that he continues to be allowed to play, having competed in four PGA Tour events since his admission, winning £45,000. The Express quotes the PGA as saying last week the process in "ongoing". The Express were concentrating on the "elephant in the room" at the Champions Dinner, saying that they hoped Bubba didn't put venison on the menu.
This is just the latest and probably the most stark example of Finchem's mismanagement of the PGA Tour. I wonder if this has anything to do with keeping performance enhancing drugs and drug testing "off topic" where golf is concerned. Apparently the PGA Tour is owned by the players, which raises the question of why they aren't putting pressure on Finchem to sort this out.

When the PGA make a decision they may or may not tell the World.
If no action is taken they will deem it to be done and dusted sot here's nothing to report.
If they take action and there's something to report then we'll know.

They may have had an investigation, decided there's no real case to answer and shoe-horned the whole thing under the carpet.

And yet they come out all guns blazing when it's suggested that anchoring isn't a good thing when only a handful of their Members will be affected...

Methinks they have their priorities a tad skewed.....

I read somewhere that Tim Finchem (sp?) apparently sees the anchoring issue as a bigger one than the VJ thing. Unfortunately, I can't find the article, if I do I will post it.

Is this spray any good then?? Is it some kind of pain killer? Ive never heard of it until Vijay had a go on it...... Seems a bit harsh to ban a spray on substance as opposed to pills, steroids and injections but as it is banned and hes admitted taking it I cant for the life of me see why hes still playing??? If he had an ounce of humility and respect for his fellow pros he'd have pulled out of all competition until a decision had been made. Im sure he's got used to his own company since this came out! Im surprised no ones socked him one! :angry:

Agreed , never really took to VJ TBH ,I believe he was caught cheating several years ago while in some form of the mini tours!! Dont qoute me but i seem to recall he deliberately signed for the wrong score to make a cut, as they say once a cheat!!! (p.s can i buy the deer spray from e-bay)

Apparently it contains a banned product connected to human growth hormone. Singh paid £6,000 to a company called Sports With Alternatives To Steroids for the spray and other products to assist his recovery from torn triceps. Singh says he checked the ingredients for banned substances and thought it was clean. I understand other golfers, I think on the senior tour, have admitted to using it, despite the Tour sending out a memo some time ago confirming its ban. I think it is important to say that Singh admitted use before any question was raised. However, as the Express says, in any other sport such an admission would result in at least a suspension rather than an invitation to one it's most illustrious events.

Cheers Jim, always stuck in the memory bank though wasn't sure of exact details, VJ appears to be admitting to the allegation by claiming it should just result in DQ rather than ban!! Hope he misses the cut TBH.
