sand needs to be hit hard, so get the sand wedge out

Flag is about 25 ft away and on downhill, but at least the green is slow

Open the face, just take it back with my arms and no body turn. and smash the flange into teh sand almost vertically behind the ball

Perfect - ball jumps forward and high , clears the lip by a little bit and lands about 3 ft onto eth green, and kicks forward. No backspin, so creeps onwards down the hill in teh general direction of the hole.

Stops 12 ft short - damn!

Par 5 up next. 545 yards into the breeze. Slight dogleg right. Fairly straightforward hole. Don't be too greedy and try to take on the corner, just stay out of the bunkers down the right and we'll be fine.

Couple of decent practice swings. Aiming out down the left, looking for the customary fade to take the ball back into the middle of the fairway.

Nice swing, just got there a little early. Ball heading nicely down the left on target.

Now it starts to cut.

And keeps cutting.

Miraculously, the ball listens and drops barely three feet from the edge of a fairway bunker.

Sat down a touch but nothing too bad. Nice line into the flag left. 290 out. Two bunkers guarding the entrance to the green and a big gorse bush immediately right.

Right can't reach the green want to leave myself 130 so pick up a 7 iron. Mmmmm bit of wind in my face take an easy 6 instead. Size it up relax Tiger just a smooth swing then at the last moment I think don't nob it in the bunker.

Top it like a tw@t into the sodding bunker.

Perfect! 170 yards progressed! Not bad, middle of the short stuff and not to close so the bunkers are getting in the way. Pity we are here for 3!

I love these. Nice steady pace but it does not break as expected so it runs past by three feet. It will be uphill and straight.

3 foot put, you can think about them all day and then miss them or switch the brain off completely, walk up to the ball, take your stance and rifle it into the centre of the cup.

This time I opt for the latter approach and we're 3 over heading to the next hole.

Next 9th hole par 3 156 yds medal tees over water to a sloping green. Pin left front.
7 iron to centre of green--tough putt 30 ft across the slope with a right to left 5 ft break. Green is quick.

I've snapped my putter earlier on, blaming myself for Pokerjokes bad read on the greens. Gonna have to try to nip this one off the top with my 54*.

I can hit it hard with a bit of check and take some of that break out.

Lovely little clip, 2bounces, bit of grab and then see it turn and dive into the cup.

Left helluva chunk out of the green though, come on lads, get the ball and lets move on before anyone sees.
