Virtual 18 holes??

damn, missed it all - had that marshal yammering at me until I took one of the planks out of the bridge over the ditch and his buggy fell in. (He's OK, just got wet but the buggy broke an axle and had to be put down.)

can we offer up some holes so the head lawnmower - robobum - can select the next course?

OK - We can start at mine if you like. 229 yard par 3. OB all the way down the right. A line of trees come across the front right of the hole 40 yards short so need to carry them. Pond short left (150 yards) for the duck hook. Ground slopes right to left. Two greenside bunkers left and one right. SI10

Ideal shot would be 5 wood (for the big boys) or a 3 wood for mere mortals aimed at edge of the tree line. A bit of draw if you are carrying those or land it short and let it run up and on

we could always use everyones nightmare holes.
I am sure we all have the one where we can get the sweats just thinking how to play.
Mine is a Par5 Si5 606yds
dog legleft at 250yds from the white tee, with a water hazard down the left and OOB on the right.
Bunkers to the left and right of the green.

Not meaning to spoil all your fun, or the spirit of the game or anything, but have you guys considred just selecting a real course and playing that virtually?

That way you can concentrate on your shots and not course architecture and you might only take 18 hours to play a round! :D

I like the idea of playing a set course - maybe Muirfield as Golf Monthly's UK No1? or Augusta... Mmmmm.

In the meantime I offer up our 17th.

404 yards par 4 dogleg left. Si.6. Elevated tee. Copse on corner of dogleg on right 204 yards from tee. Thick woods all along left hand side. Fairway slopes right to left. Green is elevated and guarded at front left by large deep bunker. Large oak tree on front right side of green. Green is narrow and slopes from back to front. If you can hit a good drive round the corner the approach (in summer) is usually a mid/long iron with ball above feet. Triple bogies not uncommon. :(

I offer this, not necessarily as the 4th (hence the suggestion that robo select the course from our offerings)

On the face of it a simple 147 yd Par 3

this is a fairly narrow hole, 45 yds from (lateral) ditched wood on the right to lake (lateral) on the left of the path.
hole rises from tee to green. pin is 5 on and 5 from the right on the slope of the green.

immediately in front of tee about 15 yds is a transverse ditch (just right for the knobbed shot). ahead of that is the pond which starts at about 60 yds and runs up to the front fringe (there's 10 sloping ft of that). green is 30 yd wide and 12 deep; it slopes back to front and left to right. 9 ft off the back of the green it drops straight into a second lake (drop zone for this is at extreme back right corner tucked into an elder bush).

when wet the ball will stick if hit short, if hard - watch the bounce! (and you never get an even bounce off the path)

I offer this....

6yd par 3

Slight dogleg left, over a small tin bridge, past some rocky outcroppings and through the blades of the windmill (timing is crucial here). The hole is a bit crowned where the carpet is ripped so the ball tends to veer off to the sides, par is a decent score.

but let's face it - we could play a virtual Augusta and we'd, mostly, exaggerate our prowess somewhat (who's going to admit to doing a Luke?) and we'll get round in a course record or we'd be honest and get round in another sort of course record.

however, I have received an early xmas pressie '1001 golf holes to play before you die' - could see how many of those we could play?
(no doubt others also have it to save my fingers)
