I was about to post there to ask a relevant question, ok to do it here?

I personally know 4 ex forum posters who left on their own volition over the years yet against their names it states blackballed, I understand no-one probably knows them from Adam but it does look like they were banned which wasn't the case. guest100718 linked to a post that showed an old poster who has guest against their name but the implication was he was banned years ago.

If anyone leaves now are they summarily blackballed against their name?

Im sure this thread will get pulled but i can answer the guest point as im 99.9% sure of who you are talking about, he asked himself for his profile to be deleted, if you delete a user its normal to leave post counts hence why he or she will show as a guest.

I can't answer the blackballed thing.

It's not worth dragging it all up again, some members didn't like some aspects of this Forum so set up a new one. It was some time ago and is better left at that now.

You're probably right, I won't hold my breath for an explaination though,

Re blackballing. I thought it was for a ban either temp, or permanent. If you ask your account to be deleted I thought you became a 'guest'?

ive been blackballed a few times

doesnt mean we shouldnt be able to freely dicsuss the forum.

Was it successful?

Can't imagine it would be easy setting up a forum from scratch.

Steady you're straying into infraction territory

Only if I criticise. I think Phil (and the rest of the mods) do an outstanding job. They enforce the rules with an even handed, almost Solomon like wisdom and devotion to duty.

If only they'd look to take on more responsibility. I'd vote for Fragger

#fraggerforpm ....it's trending

On yer bike :)

Ok lets clear up a few things, BUT. Im not going to enter into a discussion, any specific questions feel free to PM me or any other Mod.

The Forum is run by GM to GM's rules, its Mikes trainset and he decides who plays with it. The Mods just implement policy and use their discretion .

Blackballing is the term used when someone has received a ban, Currently there are no temporary bans in place. I think there have been 5 this year. There are however a few former members who have received lifetime bans. This decision is not taken by the Mods but by the GM staff and it is not done lightly.
Sometimes members ask for their accounts to be closed, and how admin does this effects the status shown, also if they decide to change their mind its easy to unblackball.

say that a member with 10000 posts asks for their account to be closed, if we wiped their history off then many old threads would become unintelligible, which is why we dont "close" accounts, we just suspend them.

Look at the forum rules in OOB to see how the infraction/ban points system works, its quite easy to understand, but suffice to say, 99% of forum members never get close to receiving an infraction .

We dont want to promote other forums on these pages. End Of.

Historically threads about "The State Of The Forum" and "Why has XXXXXX been Blackballed?" do not end well, so we tend to jump on them before they get out of control. The "Very Quiet Recently" thread was reported twice last night and as it was deteriorating it was closed.

LiverpoolPhil has not been banned, he is exercising his right as an individual to post when he sees fit, which at the moment isnt very often....His choice.

Hope that covers everything, any questions PM please
