Following the devastation I felt after the mishap with my driver, I contacted the insurance people this morning re: claiming for the club as it was not cheap. After a 10 minute phone call the insurance have agreed to replace my driver new for old. :)
within an hour of ringing the insurance direct golf contacted me to arrange delivery of my new driver.
The chap was very helpful and he has suggested I go to my local golf shop and try out lots of different drivers to find the one best suited to me as my orginal driver is now a discontinued model and then to ring him back so he can order it, I have been given a spending limit of £199 and anything above that I will pay the extra.
I am very impressed with the speed of service so far and with the chap from direct golf for his suggestion and not just assuming a newer model would be suited to me.
So far thumbs up for direct line and direct golf. :)

Now just to go and find one.

Any suggestions for which drivers to try would be much apprieciated

Drivers are a very personal club, much like a putter and what's good for one person, isn't for another.

Best thing you can do is go down to DG when you have time, grab a selection and hit them on the range. A custom fit would be a good solution.

don't know how men's clubs compare with the ladies version, but I liked the Nanospeed-i when I tried at a Yonex demo day. Getting 20 - 30 yards more from it and straighter (unfortunately I couldn't afford two new clubs at the time!)

Hello Barb, you mentioned the TM burner in a previous post. I bought one of these for HID last christmas, and she loves it, she thinks it's the best club in her bag. So a big thumbs up for the burner.

The TM burner is certainly one that I am going to try as well as the Nanospeed, which is the like for like replacement for my driver but I also want to try the new Cobra and the Adams speed driver.

We will see what happens this afternoon.

Unless you draw the ball or have a fast swing speed....there's only 1 club for you.

Wilson Spine! Please, please try one before you make your decision.

Hi all,
Well I went to AG this afternoon and tried out a few of the drivers in stock

Yonex Nanospeed
Taylormade Burner
Ping Rhapsody
Callaway X460 Fujikura
Callaway Ladies Big Bertha
Yonex VM-X
MD Golf Super Strong Ti460

After hitting quite a few balls with each club it boiled down to 2 favorites, the Taylormade and the Nanospeed.
I have chosen the TM as this just felt slightly more comfortable than the Nanospeed, particularly on the grip and it offered a little more distance.

I have contacted Direct golf and the TM is now on order so should be with me early next week. :)

On a note re: my broken driver my local AG are havin a Yonex demo day on Thurs and the AG manager (this is where I purchased the driver) has asked me to drop it in as Yonex may be able to reshaft it, he said he shall speak to the rep as this should not have happened. I explained to him that I have already made an insurance claim for a new one but he said that doesn't matter. He'll see what he can do.

Watch this space.
