Money List Winner
Had a little bit of cash stashed away from a win on the National that has been earmarked for some golf kit but until recently had not found anything that took my fancy. Nearly went for a new putter but form with my current one has been OK recently so ditched that idea.
With the inclement weather recently I started looking for a 3/4 sleeve showerproof top but was not looking to spend a fortune. Eventually picked up a Stylo one for £18.00. Uest it at the weekend and was very impressed, kept the wind and the rain off for the whole round whilst not being so warm as to make the round uncomfortable. Also was really easy to swing in which had been a concern. Not too much of a rustling sound either. Stylo are not the most fashionable make but for the price of a mid range polo shirt I was very happy.
The other spend was in another attempt to fill a problem gap between my 4 hybrid and 3 wood. Saw an older club, an Adams RPM for £40 new. I have had good experiences with Adams clubs before and it had a decent shaft (Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue) so gave it a go. The head is pretty small and would probably now be called a Fybrid or rescue wood but, to be honest, that suited what I was looking for. After mixed early results whilst I got used to it, the club has now come into its own. It is producing the 190-200 yards I am looking for but is quite high launching and soft landing so, again, has alot in common with a hybrid. It is really forgiving and also works pretty well out of the rough.
Anyway, this year I am determined to stay away from the newly released kit and when I do look for something I am looking for a bit of a bargain and the first 2 purchases have, I feel, been pretty successful.
