Hello Everyone,

I came across this and feel that everyone should sign up for it!

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/12244

At the end of the day it will keep our memberships and greenfees at a more stable rate rather than constantly increasing!

Lets keep golf at a reasonable price!

I also think it is a bit of a joke that members clubs do not pay any VAT on memberships or greens fees, surely that is discrimination??

Would be interested to know what everyone thinks!

Or perhaps the venues should drop their silly prices? even if it was vat free, some sports still cost well over £40 for less than 2 hours entertainment PER PERSON.
in 1990 it was a fiver to watch a top division football team, they now stand around 900% give or take more expensive.
in 1990 a loaf of bread was 50p and can now still be bought for less than a quid, where is the parity?

Does this severe increase in football ticket prices match the increase in quality? I dont think so.

No it won't as everything increases whether we like it or not. Even a simple thing like diesel for the grasscutters/tractors has increased.

I agree mate, the point i was trying to make is it is not a level playing field and the course down the road gets a competitive advantage for no reason. Put it in any kind of business context and it doesnt make sense. It would be like Tesco paying VAT and Morrissons not.

I agree that fuel, business rates etc will always increase.

However it is not just membership fees but also greenfees 15% of that would be a lot of money. These could potentially cover increases and depreciation rather than passing the buck onto membership etc.

Just my opinion.

But a members club is not a business. They don't make any profit. There is no unfair advantage. They charge what it costs to run the club.
