gonna get a samsung galaxy gear for my note and will be using golfshot. The watch displays distances etc via bluetooth.

Can I use this if the phone is tucked away in my bag and not accessed during the round?

I would say no, why, because I can :ears:

You don't buy a baseball bat to play cricket so buy a proper GPS you skinflint :smirk:

I have a proper gps :ears:

as the watch is a bargain via work and it can be used with golfshot it seems a logical thing to do especially as I love gadgets :)

When has "logical" and the "rules of golf" ever been hand-in-hand :mmm:

Depends on the phone you are using to provide the data to the watch. If the phone doesn't comply then you can't use it. There is nothing on the watch that would deem it non-compliant on it's own. As you are using a Note then the answer is no I'm afraid.
