Thought I'd spend a few hours practicing at the course today. After long clubs, chipping and pitching I moved into our 5' high pot bunker :(.

As I was in there our clubs touring pro came past, he's about to go to Q school and has been playing on the challenge tour, and cast his eye (mostly in pity :() at my attempts.

Plenty of pointers and demonstartions later I was managing to pop 6 irons up and over the lip :D

Managing to do this and then go back to a S/W and Lob Wedge and it was so much easier. I had the ball way too far back in my stance and the weight balance was awful.

Can't say i'll be playing 6 irons from greenside bunkers in the future but it's one heck of a practice drill.

YBM tomorrow so undoubtedly I'll take 4 out of the 1st bunker i enter.

Ahh thats good to here, I like it when pro's give advice for free! :D My pro told me when I started having lessons that he would always be watching me on the range and if he had spare time he would pop over and check on me etc, but he never does.

I might have a couple of lessons off the pro at my new club, I definitly need some practice out of the sandbox!

The pro at my local driving range asks his students to come down on a Tuesday evening, pay £5 to the range, you get £5 worth of balls and the pro just walks between everybody there giving little bits of advice and making sure we're all progressing ok.

I'm not sure if this is standard or not, but it's very useful for me and I appreciate it a lot!

My Pro does keep an eye on what I'm doing on the range & even sometimes on the course, though he's never come over & intervined, though I did once get the resident tour pro come over & compliment me on the amount of practice I'd been doing one particular week. (he was practicing a few bays down from me)
