Tyneside GC a wonderful course nestled in the Tyne valley with beautiful scenery and views from many of the holes. The club is off the mainstreet down toward old Ryton village but easy enough to find, visitors have their own car, furthest away from the club house and pro shop but it's only ashort walk.

The pro was friendly and offered advice as to the state of the course and bunkers. Due to the recent storm that had hit the NE most of the bunkers were GUR and a free drop, handy advice indeed.

Even with all the recent rain the course was fantastic, the course obviously drains very well as the only water logged areas were around existing ponds which had spilled over but that written the fairways were in excellent condition as were the greens.

This is a course where accuracy is vital if you want to score well, as with errant shots the rough is thick, deep and will punish the careless.

The par 4’s and 5’s can all be taken with a driver, the exception being the 15[SUP]th[/SUP] where a good 3 wood will see you hit the green. Of the 4 par 3’s the 6[SUP]th[/SUP] at 185 off the yellow markers is thelongest, the other three are short holes with the 12[SUP]th[/SUP] at 155yds but downhill and the 16[SUP]th[/SUP] 105yds needing good club selection for you to score well.

Finishing the round with a pint in the club house, the staff were friendly and polite, the club house was clean and tidy and offered a nice relaxed atmosphere.

All in all Tyneside GC is a course I would recommend playing, with some stunning views, some fantastic holes and some challenging holes I certainly will be looking to return at some point this summer.
