I've just played my first and then second Open rota course in the last three weeks.
First was Turnberry - The rough is up and even the lads in the shop were saying it was as tough as they've seen it. The holes leading up to and around the lighthouse are fantastic and the course itself is beautiful to play and walk round.
Second up Muirfield - I've just had the experience of playing Muirfield with the grandstands and leaderboards in place for the Open. First thing, the winner in a fortnights time will hit it straight!! The rough is brutal, 6 paces off the fairway and in places it was waist deep! The fairways are the narrowest I've ever seen and the bunkers are a real penalty. The course itself feels special and while its not as picturesque at Turnberry I would say it is the better course.
