I have been looking around for a club to join.
In my research I have noticed a couple of clubs offering a twilight membership.
Couple of questions for you all.
Is this something your club offers?
Is it something you would be interested in?
How much (percentage wise) do you think would be fair?
Would you encourage it at your club?

No ulterior motive or pushing the latest get rich quick scheme just generally interested especially as someone who has played a lot of Twilight golf

We have a twilight green fee (after 3pm) but no corresponding membership scheme. Not sure if I would go for it, even though I play a lot after this time, probably more than at weekends- I would miss the flexibility of playing at other times.

Same here previously, when the kids were young and I was working most of my golf was twilight or very early morning, but still had the occasional medal etc.
Unless the saving was very large I wouldn't go twilight.
Might also be unpopular with full members if their time after work suddenly became very busy with people on reduced fees.
Twilight can be quiet at weekends but popular midweek.

Even in South Somerset that would mean about a 8 month a year membership (assuming you want get 18 holes in before it gets dark).

As we have a 9 hole course as well as the 18 I would not see the need for it here as we offer 9 hole course membership which is less than half of the full member rate.

Had a second membership at the club that offered off peak membership. As I'm usually playing in the afternoon it worked well for me.
Play is available after 11 am on Mondays and Tuesdays, after 12 pm from Wednesday to Friday, and after 2 pm on weekends. (From October to March, weekend play starts after 12 pm.)
Financially it was no brainer full membership is 1175 and off peak is 755

But then I don't see that as too much of a bad thing as when I came to the game (1970) the golf "season" was only regarded as eight months.

Any winter play was seen as a bit of fun and played purely for the exercise and company.

It certainly wasn't unusual for many to completely go into golfing hibernation and not touch their clubs until mid March.

I must admit that whilst I do occasionally venture out in the dark months I still don't really consider it as golf when played on shortened courses with pick and place and sometimes winter greens.

Where I play we play comps all year round to the same schedule as summer and like a few clubs in this area there is a major matchplay knock out Open during the winter months.

My Club also have a full schedule 12 months of the year.

It's just not for me.

As a National Hunt enthusiast I would sooner have a day's racing than winter golf.

From a clubs perspective looking to attract new members with these type of initiatives so many fail to allow for the number of existing full members who may switch to the new level offered which can make any extra revenue minimal.
