Played in a Medal round at the club tonight and shot 42 for the front 9. Was hitting the ball pretty well and everything was going pretty much to 'plan' as far as scoring at holes was concerned. So, stood on the 10th tee and proceeded to smack my drive OB! Ended up with a triple bogey 7. Managed a 5 on the 11th, but then took two shots to get out of a bunker at 12 for a double bogey 6. Ended up with a 51 on the back 9 for 93, nett 71, so have made the buffer zone, but it could (should) have been so much better. Honestly thought I was in for my first ever handicap cut tonight. :(

On the half hour drive home, I was going through the round in my head and then thought to myself - 'hold on, you've played 5 Medal rounds this season and only gone up 0.1.'

It'll come together one day, I'm sure.

And there, my friend, is your positive!

It's in there - one day it'll come bursting out!

Your positive is that you know there are shots out there waiting to be dropped from your game. :)

On day it'll all come right and you'll score a dream score and get your cut. In the meantime, try to take the pressure off yourself by just enjoying the game and see each and every round as a learning opportunity.

Same as you today, Del. On our par 69 course I was out in 36 (1 over) and back in 44 (10 over!). Apart from a couple of clunks I hit the ball very well and my short game has improved to being almost mediocre. I actually blew it on the par 4 17th when I blocked my drive into the trees (having hit every fairway previously in the round) and ended up with an 8. Lesson learned - play an iron off the tee and take a 5 at worst. Positives - the score could and should have been much lower. You've probably got a good half a dozen shots you know you can lop off your score so that ought to act as a real incentive for you.
