Trilby venues 2013

I've paid my £50 deposit but I've seen the venue list and for that reason I'm out!

With a 10% uplift in price from last year I expected something better. No courses in Hampshire, Berkshire or Surrey - not good.

I think people on the waiting list will get their chance to play, I've played in it twice now thats enough for me.

It's pretty disappointing that people feel like you do, wonder what effect this list of venues will have on next year's entry. I've played in the past but certainly won't play in it again.

£275 to play a £20 course...in your dreams smug Will!!

I am sure it will still sell out, plenty of golfers would still pay for their chance to be on tv. Not for me, I could play 2 or 3 decent courses and get a proper set of clothing, his gear looks rank especially the collars on the t shirets, look like 1970's flappers!

Not a fan of Mr Hunt either, watching the program is usually a usual suspects love in!

Wow... I can’t believe that no one in this thread gets what the Trilby Tour is about! I'm guessing none of you have actually played in the tour? I’ve travelled across from Ireland many times to play and will continue to do so… I read stupid comments like “you can play at these venues for £25” I’m sure you can… But who cares, the Trilby Tour won’t be there, the crowds won’t be there, Sky Sports won’t be there and the pressure that the event adds to the day will defiantly NOT be there!

The theatre of the Trilby Tour is pure genius, those with ill-informed comments should perhaps save a few pennies and give it a go before commenting...

When you say theatre are you sure you don’t mean pantomime?
:);)

Quite a few commenting on here have played before, but not again. Personally I think it is a huge money making exercise for Hunt. Where else could you get free advertising on Sky, and get rid of some old clothing stock for a couple of hundred quid. I assume the courses still also pay to hold the event ?

Give me a forum meet any day.

The trilby tour is only there for one thing and that is to make Hunt money. He couldn't give a toss about the golfers if he did he would get some decent venues sorted out.

Anyway where in Ireland are you from? Fancy coming to play a much better pair of courses than anything that the TT can offer ;)

As I mistakenly believed that this was an event similar to Europro Tour I once watched an event on TV.

I have said it before on here & was roundly criticised for saying that the standard of play is generally worse than you would see in a club medal with the exception of one or two bandits. As for the clothing and that self publicist W Hunt!!!!

Why anyone would watch it let alone pay £275 to play on very ordinary courses is completely beyond me.

Theatre!? More like circus.

terrible guess - and if you had even bothered to read previous responses you wouldn't even have had to guess.

the crux of the observations here, and elsewhere, is that the TT has made a grave error in the proposition - it should hav eincreased the cost and delivered quality courses for a significant proportion of previous players, and a proprotion of new ones.

that said, it will fill it's slots with people for whom there is no value proposition element at all at that price.

I've paid that sort of money for a game and happy that Sky, Hunt! Stupid hats etc wern't there. I'd rather play Wentworth or Sunningdale with some good company than some inferior course with a bunch of people off dubious handicaps!

It's Mickey Mouse. I can't believe sky will show it for much longer. The reason the courses are rubbish is that no decent course will pay to host an event. I heard they wanted 50k + a few years ago. Any decent course doesn't need the exposure. You pay £275 to play a goat track, dress like knob, with the biggest knob of all running the whole thing !!

I've never played in it and never will and the fact Sky Sports is there just means I'll have to find something else to watch when it's on. I don't want to see people on telly who are little or no better than me. I've never considered it theatre and the only genius is the ay Mr Hunt lines his pockets with everyone's cash. £275 is just plain daft, I could play several better courses round here for a fraction of that price, heck, I could play both courses at Sunningdale for £280 and I wouldn't need a daft hat and a Sky camera to do so.

Enjoy it, but I'm out

Its become an ego trip and form of self-publicity for his business.

There was a post on here the other day, (the twit... something or other tour) where by for not much more than this entry fee plus the cost of flights to Spain, you got three good days golf and accommodation, etc.

I know which I'd rather do tbh.
