that describes most of the courses we played at uni apart from Longcliff the only other one I remember fondly is Oadby (used to be in the racecourse at Leicester) as had my first HIO there. Closed down now i think?

Recently re-opened as a 9 holer I believe.

Apart from your hole in one another unmemorable track.

A few decent courses in and around Nottingham and Leicester but no real great ones until you get out to Mansfield. (Hollinwell, Sherwood and Coxmoor).

Course knowledge and budget were both sadly lacking in those days, we played Humberstone Heights most of the time! Did enjoy Longcliffe though

Thankfully had the chance to play the 3 you mention many years later!

Western Park, now sadly closed, was the best municipal in Leicester by a considerable distance.
