Trick or treat during the pandemic?

I will be letting my son round the doors this year, only goes to door that have decorations up and my house will be open to anyone who chaps my door.

We have a bag of sweets that's been sat here a year so they can have them if they knock. To be fair we live down the end of a dead end road and we don't get many trick or treaters anyway. Most years we maybe get one or two. Wouldn't be surprised if we get none this year.

My daughter has spent the last 3 weeks prepping.

She has a schedule so that all her class mates that live locally can text her and come and collect a little package she's made.

She'll leave it outside for them. I was against it at first, but theyre all in a bubble and we won't be giving stuff to anyone else or collecting from anyone.

Our street has organised it so there will be no trick or treat but kids will still dress up and walk with mum and dad and get a reward from them for each pumpkin they spot in a window.
Seems Vito go around the country. Our area also does it, treasure hunt they call it here.

Another that would like to see it banned from a H&S perspective (ideally permanently). Turning up to a door, getting sweets and all putting their hands in the bowl to pull out the goodies doesn't seem safe and it may not be the kids that get ill but they could easily be spreading it to the parents etc. Just doesn't seem a risk worth taking

In my opinion, anyone who lets their kids do this at the moment is really not thinking straight.
150k new cases this week says there's not enough people taking this thing seriously enough.
The potential for transmission immense.

Can anyone take the cases seriously when people have been testing fruit, pavement, dog fur, or just dropping it straight in the bottle for it to come back positive?

I’m sure they’ll be some “covid secure” transaction of sweets.

I know of one person who was booked in for a test and didn’t turn up and got a positive test result a few days later ?
