So what's your worst ?

Today for me for sure !!
Blowing a gale as I'm sure most of you played in today , but it all went Pete Tong today.

Wont bore with all the details and there were a few highlights , best one being a two on 7 after nailing a 5 iron to a flag 148 away just as the wind dropped then holing out from 50 foot :o

Worst hole was a 9 on a par 3, OB'd with bunker shot and numerous putts :D

So all in all a 96 for nett 91 just some 23 shots off the leader in what is a 36 hole comp over two weekends

Had a good game in the gales and rain today, was 10 over through 15 then 2 lost balls later on the 16th NR'd that hole parred the 17th 2 over the 18th.

In hindsight should have goneback for 5 off the tee as no one got lower than net par from what was being said in the clubhouse. So even with an 8 on the 16th would have been 3 under my handicap.

We live and learn, still I think ill get a cut hopefully. Same comp 2 years ago, terrible weathe r then, shot net 65 winnig score, forgot to sign card. I think the comp doesnt like me.

Standing on the 16th tee +5 gross in a medal and finishing 6, 6, 6 (double treble, bogey). Followed it in the midweek medal by reaching the same tee +6 gross and repeating the trick

Similar to this.

36 hole comp, day one I stood on the 16th tee +2. Finished 6, 5, 7 (double, double, quadruple). Did similar the next day after getting to 16 on +4.

Lost the comp by 2.

Played a medal when off 9 and I think I was level after 12. Decided on 3 wood for safety on a par 4, and put three of them out of bounds for a 12. 8 over on one hole.

I think I lost the comp by a few shots, but if it was stableford I would have walked it.

Through not playing enough I am not surprised at one or two (3-4) trips through the windscreen during a round so I guess I am a bit more relaxed about picking glass out of my face.
However about 4 years back I did witness the most bizarre opening 2 holes with my mate who has a very solid game once. 1st Tee was right by the club house patio sunny day loads quaffing ale looking on, I am sweating (having not played the game for very long) thinking don't stuff up with an audience and send a beauty away, my mate out of character duffs it just past the ladies tee.
Next hole I send mine away into the rubbish off line, my mate puts his 50 yards to the edge of a pond and puts the next in the 80yrd pond, he tells me to go and find my ball while I can remember where it is, walking away I hear a polite curse and see the ripples in the pond (I have never seen this chap play 2 stinkers in a row ever) so I stop walking as he drops another Pro V1, more considered preparation this time, splash!! Goes to his bag pulls out yet another £3.50 drops it, even more considered prep clears the lake thanks to a huge slice and sends it deep into the bushes OB!!
Absolutely bizarre event to witness from such a solid player.

On what was the 6th I had a tin cup moment, drove the ball well enough but end up with my line t the green blocked by a an elderly Oak tree some 75yds or so in front of me, my options were to 1 - draw the ball around the tree, pah, that was never going to happen, 2 - be sensible a knock a gentle 7 sideways but forward so I could see the green, or 3 - mash a 3 metal over the tree.

Guess which one I went for?

my original ball and 4 others later I gave up and chose option 2, walked off the par 5 with a 16 and 5 balls lighter.

A couple of standouts from my repertoire, having shot a 2 over front nine of 38 in a medal (5 under hcp), then having parred 10 to go 6 under hcp, I then had two consecutive 10's on 11 and 12, ended up missing buffer.

Also finished quadruple, double, quadruple in the end of season trophy winners championship last year when 5 under hcp standing on the 16th tee.

Wonderful memories

Certainly had one yesterday!

Forgotten how to play - not sure whether 'in the wind' actually needs to be added or not!

Great company though!

Went out in with 20 points, finished on 21 points. Smashed 3 wood and bag also.

Close the thread - Nobody's beating that!!! ^^^

Probably not even my worst but, played an open at Aberdovey, front 9 into the wind punched everything to get to the turn at level gross, turned for home wind at our backs.... didn't even manage to buffer!

I've had two that stick out to me-

Level par after 2 in a medal standing on the third tee and slice the ball on to the railway. Reload and do the same again. In the end I was 11 off the tee having eventually pulled an iron out the bag.

The other one is maybe not a train crash but I have certainly carried it with me since I was 16-

Junior team match, all square after 15. Hooked my tee shot into the trees. When I get down to it all I could here was mumblings from those watching that I would have to chip out to the side as there was no way I was getting out. So I launched a 6 iron out and over the trees and landed it on the green about 170 yards away to quite a lot of applause from the 15 or so that had come out to watch. Then I 4 putted to lose the hole.

I once recall an early round, one of my first summers competitions where I stood on the 16th tee with 36 points.

I walked off the 18th with those same 36...

Well found out today that after NRing through frustration, I should have just gone back and sent another one down. I could have shot a 10 on the hole and still got 1st. Winning score was 71 net, gutted to say the least.

Still only got cut from 20.5 to 19.5, was hoping for more but still at least its a step in the right direction. Hopefully play similar in next comp, plenty practsie this year play in as many comps as possible so end of year is true reflection of my game
