Tour de France

Agreed. I think a guy like WVA would probably need to ride the mountains like Indurain or Wiggins, just set a high tempo and time trial his way up there. I'm not convinced he will ever be a GC man in a grand tour.

I love to see a pure climber winning the Tour, Vingegaard has been amazing in the mountains. I'm not saying he's a bad ITT (like Pantani) but he's no Indurain, Armstrong, Contador, Wiggins or Froome either who you expected to win or be top 3 at worse in all the ITT as well.
Um, yeah. That was a load of old bollox then. :ROFLMAO: He would probably have beat WVA if he didn't back off, unbelievable ride.

Caught up with the final day late last night. It’s been a brilliant tour, really enjoyed watching it this year with some absolutely incredible riding, racing and sportsmanship on display.

Heck of an achievement by Geraint Thomas but Wout van Aert has to be the rider of the tour for me. He’s been brilliant, surely could have won more stages and the KOM jersey but he stuck by the team to ensure Vingegaard the Yellow. A gent and a legend in one.

edit: Cannot wait for the Netflix docuseries on this tour now.

That was awful - the rider coming over at speed actually left lycra short skid marks on the road - ouch. They're so bloody brave.
