Toughest thing to learn ?

Two things for me,

1. Keeping my eye on the ball - still find this difficult and when I remember it usually results in a nice clean strike.

2. On short game pitches, especially over a bunker, decelerating on the shot, meaning a fluffy, girly flop in the bunker.

Overswinging. If you look at me on a video, 3/4 of the way back and it looks pretty textbook. However I keep going and going with the swing and the shoulders forces the head up and that sets a domino effect off. I then feel I have to straighten up and lose all the spine angle I had. Great when the timing is good but a nightmare on bad days. The posture change I worked on with my old pro two lessons ago was suppose to change that but I never saw any changes.

By going to a more one plane swing it allows me to be more rotational. I am still overswinging but getting through the ball a lot better and really striking it well. I'm torn between style over substance. There are some golfers who swing long and play well and whilst I'm hitting it so much better is it worth the grief of trying to stop something I've done naturally for years. I've tried to swing shorter, but even when I video it and I'm convinced it is a 3/4 swing it is usually parallel at best.

Homer, I know what you mean. I have to video my swing quite often during a range session with my iPhone as what I it feels like I'm doing vs what I'm actually doing are usually quite different.

Weight transfer being a case in point. It feels like I've shifted my weight way before I start my down swing, when in fact on most of my swings I'm actually half way through my down swing before you can see any forward move at all.

For me its the swing path change....
Hitting more in to out is tough and iv been plagued by shanks but have since lately figured out that they are heavily caused by a severely inside takeaway and approach to the ball...
Iv figured out that im more of a one plane swinger and certainly a lot flatter than the usual which can lead to a very inside takeaway if im not careful.

Iv been working hard on taking the club away on a more paralell path and attacking the ball from the inside which is a hell of a lot better and the Shhhhhhhhhhhhh dont say that word have remained quiet for the most part.

Had the same thing but the long parallel takeaway has led to an over the top for me which has began to result in a return of the dreaded, I know the fixes but it's tough going.
