Totally Hacked Off With Life

sounds more like a disc problem if it is a shooting pain, the disc bulges and traps the sciatic nerve causing excruciating stabbing pain i know because i had it and had to go on traction to stretch my spine GO to your gp asap and get referred to hospital because sorry to say it will not cure itself.

Sorry to hear it Martin. Don't even think of playing in next week's medal, even if it seems to be better. Hope you're okay for the Jack Jarrett the week after. At least you're in the right job to get proper treatment (otherwise I would have suggeted the Harrison clinic at Arborfield - They've worked wonders with my back and neck injuries in the past). Get well soon mate

I can tell you catagorically that if you retire injured that your club should not add .1 to your handicap. I had this at the end of last year before my hip was replaced and I spoke to the EGU expert and my club had to knock .1 off my 11.5 to return me to 11.4 whichI have played on all winter.

I hope that your injury is not as bad as you fear HJS

Thanks Chris. I'll speak to our h'cap secretary although it was several months ago and I suspect changing it now would cause issues as I've been hovering around 9.4 - 9.5 so it could change some of my comp scores

Total sympathy for you Homer... I had similiar happen to me last year... Four holes into a round with both of my sons... We don't get to play as a group often and despite the pain I was more upset about having to walk[crawl] off and miss completing a round I had been greatly looking forward to...

Hope you get 'sorted' soon...

you need a Doc Martin ............../see what I did

dont do anything until consulting an expert in case you do more damage, hopefully it's minor and you have a speedy recovery

Chiro's do more bad than good and bloody expensive for not a lot of benefit. If your wanting eye candy buy a copy of razzle.

On a serious note get somebody local who does Neuromuscular / deep tissue massage. That will be much more beneficial.

Diclofenac is a stronger Anti inflammatory if you can get a hold of it.

I think that it's more important that your secretary knows for any future cards that are submitted

Still damn painful but I've been nicking some of the top strength co-codamol painkillers HID was given to help the pain of her fractured cocyxx and it has started to take the edge off. Going to the doctor tomorrow and seeing what they say first and take it from there. The glass half full Homer is thinking the enforced lay off may let me play with absolute zero expectation if and when I next get out in a comp (Sundays medal looking 50/50 at best) and that I might play well as a result. That or it'll go again!

Sounds like your sciatic nerve to me, had the same problem myself a few years back, a quick fix at the back quacks should help you out and get them to show you the correct stretching exercises and you should be fine

Been to the quacks. He did something called a passive leg raise(?) where I had to lie on my back and lift my leg up. he then lifted it further and raised the foot up. Although I could feel some tension in the back, there wasn't a shooting pain in either leg so he thinks it is more muscular than sciatica although he wants to keep an eye on it for two weeks ando go back

Got some co-codalmol for the pain and he wants me to use alternating hot and cold packs for the next 72 hours and see if the pain eases. I asked when I could play and he just laughed and said I was a fool to think about going near a club until at least this time next week and in his professional opinion probably chipping at best after two weeks and even then he would be iffy. Looks like no golf this coming weekend or any chance to hit the range. I'm going to have to start talking to the wife soon. Even read the last three months worth of GM again and done two Rotella books since Saturday. God I'm bored with golf

Sorry to hear about your problem.
Look, this might not help your ailments, but I've just read a really good book, and it might take your mind off your pain. Someone lent me their Kindle to read it on, it's called The Last Bike Ride, and golf is involved.
Hope you're back oot there soon!

Hope you get better for Woburn mate, I'd lay of the sticks for a few weeks just to be safe, nothing worse than going back to sport before your healed, can usually take you out for longer.

I got a footballing injury where I put my foot down a rabbit hole whilst warming up, turned on the whole ankle and it went to 90 degrees, I didn't tell anyone just strapped it up and played. As I loved the game I just played every week heavily strapped up, it's never been the same. I can walk down the street and turn on it.. Pain...
