today i went and bought new irons and walked out the shop with a set of titleist ap2 irons

So this afternoon i walk on the course with a complete new set of clubs

titleist 907 d1 driver
titleist 906 f4 fairway wood
titleist 585h 19 degree hybrid wood
titleist ap2 irons

Had to use my old putter as my 3 vokey wedges and scotty cameron putter doesnt arrive until 2mo.

Well i stepped on the 1st tee and te course was empty neway and 1st drive was not bad pull it a wee bit.

i know i wasnt expecting much from today after been out the game so long. I was on the 1st hole and put 2 ball down in middle of fairway and took out a 9 iron. Bang straight at pin. I was a bit shocked and thought it was luck lol. so same place took out wedge bang same again staight at pin but short.

I ended up playing 11 holes. I didnt do much putting or chipping around the green as will wait till 2mo until my new gear arrives and will use that.

Am glad i have broke the ice anyway and am back playing now. I have a few iffy shots today but thats expected. Just got to get my swing back and try a few things and fingers crossed i will see a improvement

i used to play off 4 before i stopped

Also i was hitting the irons a bit longer than i used to cause at my home course i know kinda how far i used to hit the ball etc and was hitting it futher today but thats due to being older, am 25 now and alot stronger due to my job now

I enjoyed myself but got a wee bit annoyed with a few bad shots but just told myself thats expected..

Am going to play again all day 2mo and take it easy and might fit in a wee lession on thursday morning just so i dont get into any bad habits again.

If you were that low it shouldn't take you long to get back to a decent figure. Equipment has moved on a lot in five years so your new sticks should help.

Glad it went well. Keep us posted how you are progressing. Where you from btw

Well Done. Im just back into the game after about 5 years. Have had a few lessons with the Pro and have been hitting balls at the range to practice my technique.
Have ordered new irons as well, Callaway X20 along with Callaway FT-5 Driver (Draw) and FT 3 wood. The irons are hopefully coming this week, got them fitted as I needed slightly longer than standard. The woods are VERY forgiving which is great but im finding that im hitting them off the heel and still carrying them 200 yards+ which makes it hard to get into my mind that im not hitting the sweet spot and could improve. Have got some of that tape off the pro which shows me where im striking th ball. Got a new bag but have kept my old putters Ping Zing and Ping B60. Entered a works events on 22nd April so aim so be up and running by then having played at least 2 rounds of 18 holes.

I just hope my first rounds back go as well as yours did.

I returned to golf 20 months ago after a break of 25 years, at the age of 73. I must have been daft. I was as bad as the first time ever I swung a club. Still pretty crap but the bug has bitten.

update guys

Went out again today and stricking was a bit better but still pulling and the odd slice aswell. got my new wedges and putter and there gr8. Wedges i was pulling them aswell.

Only played 9 holes as it was a bit slow. I decided this afternoon to go for a lesson with my local pro who i have known since 8 yrs old and is the district coach aswell.

We went to the golf range and hit a few balls and he videoed my swing etc then we went back to the pro shop and he talked out a few faults. He said i had a very good posture and swing even with taking 5 yrs off.

My left hand grip was a bit weak so we worked on that. We also worked on shoulder alignment aswell and also dropping my hands aswell a wee bit.

We trayed all 3 and it came together very well. ball started going towards the target more often. still the odd wild one but thats expected until i get used to the changes.....

I am very pleased with the results and also will be taking more lessons in the future. Also he boosted my confidents aswell by saying there is alot of good things about my swing etc.

One thing that hasnt slipped is my bunker shots. still impressive hehe

Well back out tomorrow morning for some more practice then playing 2mo afternoon with a few guys from work.
