I've been offered a set of these in regular shafts http://www.golfonline.co.uk/taylormade-tour-preferred-irons-steel-shaft-p-4485.html brand new for the princely sum of £100. Has anybody got them or tried them and if so would I be able to get on with them as an 11 handicapper or are they really a "good" player (7 or lower) club. I am tempted even with the R9's in the bag as I'm sure I'll get more than that via e-bay if I can't get on with them.

BUY THEM! You could get more off Golf Bidder (Providing they aint too beaten up) if you dont get on with them. You have wanted set of blades for ages. Just dont have them in your bag for Sunday!

To buy and sell on go for it.
If you cant hit the R9's matey, I dont think changing them is going to help, sell the tm's at a little profit and splurge it all on either more lessons or lots of alcohol. This way you wither will hit it straighter, or you wont care!

At that price Homer, you'd be mad not to get them. If you get on with them then great if not you will off load them at no loss.

The other option is to keep them as a reward for knocking a couple of shots off the old handicap :D

That's the point. I can hit the R9's which is why I'm in a quandary. I had my heart set on these last year but on the TM demo day didn't hit them well but my swing has improved hugely since then (to be honest I was struggling to even hit Burners on the day). Its one of those times when something comes along and you know if you don't get it you'll regret it but you're also buying for buying's sake. My inclination is to get them and give them a whirl (not Sunday Hywel - don't panic) and if I can't get on with them flog them off and probably still make a profit but I'm still not totally convinced. Has anyone ON HERE used them?

Think Sergio has hit them, in fact he hit them quite well from what I remember.

They're half cavity backs, can't be too hard to hit. I would get them. As others have said you can move them on at a profit if you dont like them.

I tried these and the burners etc at a TM demo day last year. I was surprised that it was these that I hit the most consistently of all of them. Let's face it, they aren't exactly aimed at me. I had the same story at the Mizuno demo day. The 200's weren't as consistent as the 52's. I couldn't figure it out.

I'd say go for it. As others have said, at that price you can always sell them on.
