I think it is important to recognise who this marketing is aimed at. In America size is king. There was a lot of Twitter questions about 17 yesterday and as a result a lot of discussion about the fact that the RBZ gives a better player on average 17 more yards. That was the desired marketing effect so now a large swathe of US golfers will be descending to their local outlet to find out there own RBZFactor. Didn't TM turnover €1billion last year? They must know a bit more than we do about target marketing!

Nail on the head. I was asking the same question in our pro shop on Saturday, nearly posted it on here too..... In discussion we could relate the heart hats to the "Love your driver" adverts they'd been running, but had no idea what the 17 related to........... now I do.

With regards to Taylormade & their marketing,, they swamp the club shops with a variety of equipment, but just like football shirts.. you don't have to buy it..
I'm a Taylormade fan, (you may not have known that) but just because they bring out something new, it doesn't make me buy it. oh whats this in my bag, its the new R11s driver & 3 wood.. Maybe I do..

Jeez, was just saying i liked the hat lol.
In my eyes TM have their marketing spot on. Like it or not it gets people talking. They advertise 17 yards and thats enough to get you in to test it. Even if it only gives you 10 yards i reckon a lot of people will bite.
In my experiance, the second they get you into that special room they have you. Hence why im avoiding AG at the moment. That and my 3 wood is behaving itself at the minute.....
