I have been looking at these and I notice that they have less offset than my current TM r7 irons. I am just curious as to what difference this makes?

I'm planning on going and trying a load of new irons in time for the summer, and these are on the list. I know it's all in the hitting, but I'm interested to know anyways. Also, the lofts on each iron are 1 deg weaker, will this make it easier to get the ball airborne with the longer irons?

Generally, more offset means harder to slice the ball. I don't think 1° will make any difference at all to how you hit them. It's maybe 3 yards difference all other things being equal.

In a proper golf swing with a proper golf club your hands should be slightly ahead of the ball at impact but this is hard to do with any consistency, so what an offset does is do it for you and pretend you are good

FourPutt I can't answer your question, but what I can say as someone who owns AP1's that they are a great iron. I do not have a massive frame of reference but I think they are fantastic and very forgiving. I would highly recommend giving them a go. I found the standard dynamic gold shafts gave me a bit of a balloning ball flight but the PX5.5s made a world of difference. Happy shopping

Thanks guys, I will give them a go along with a few others. I always thought my r7s were quite chunky. Didn't realise these were more so.

Clive W: I have, a mate has them. Was like trying to play with a butter knife. When I hit it well it was great, but they're not what you'd call forgiving for a high handicapper!!!

Tiger: Have added you on Twitter (@fergysteve)

It's the wife that's a geordie, not me, I'm Scottish.

And besides, I only have one guitar these days, a '78 Les Paul Reborn. Got rid of all the daft pointy ones.

Yea but you *sound* like a geordie :D

We need to arrange a game sometime mate, it's been too long. Fancy coming to Bristol on saturday? ;)
