Titleist 907 d1 driver opinions ?

In a mad moment i have won off ebay the Titleist 907 d1 driver, mint condition £69

Can i ask if any of you guys use or have used this driver and your thoughts

Its to replace my old Ping G2 which is good but i need a few extra yards

This has the Aldila reg shaft fitted to the 907

I had one. Didn't like the noise it made, and the Aldila proto shaft did nothing for me. I had it re-shafted, and it was better, but still a bit light.

One of my playing partners has one, and loves it, so you may get on fine.

Not a bad driver, I had one a bit back but it was a bit of a hook machine for me,prefered the 907D2.Saying that I just picked up a 909D2 for £49 now thats a bargain.

Strangely (for Titleist) ahead of its time. Triangular shape, with weight in corners for high MOI, didn't go down very well initially, but both TM and Callaway have moved towards this shape recently.

As usual, getting the right shaft combo was/is the key.

If it doesn't work out, you won't lose much putting it back on the Bay again.

Not sure whether you'll get those extra yards, but perhaps some more consistency. G2 was a particularly good driver - G5 and G10 were pretty much cosmetic changes only.

Do you think it will be an improvement on the Ping G2 ?

The 907D1 was widely considered to be a very straight club - straight, straight left, straight right. That was also my experience of it.

If the shaft suits you and you have enough loft, it may work well for you.

As to whether it is an improvement on a G2, that is impossible to say. A bit like asking whether you look thinner of fatter in this new shirt. Could be either.

I guess the proof is in the pudding. Get down the range and hit some and see how they go. You'll know soon enough if it suits
