as i'm new to the forum i thought i say hello and introduce myself. My names Tim and i have recently taken up golf. I havent had any lessons yet but have booked a course of them today. 4 x 1 hours lessons with 30 days unlimted golf on a 9 hole course and a free 6 iron worth £25 thrown in. Not bad for £45. They are group lessons but that doesnt bother me as i might find some playing partners and have been teaching myself through books and videos on the internet for a while so dont think/ hope i will need as much attention as others on the course. I have been round an 18 hole course twice now at Ferndown Forest for those of you who live in Dorset and know it. I went round the first time in 124 and yesterday in 119 which i dont think is to bad as i havent had lessons yet.

Welcome along. Well done for getting lessons sorted as once you have the basics sorted you have a great foundation on which to build your golfing career. Welcome along and let us know how the lessons go

Any lesson is a good lesson. I'm sure a good pro wouldn't leave anyone out and anyway you can learn grip, stance, posture easily in a group format.
Welcome to the forum, welcome to golf, hope you enjoy it. :D

Hi,

Welcome to the forum mate. You will find loads of people on here in your position, there are also a few who play in your neck of the woods ( I am about 40 mins away if you ever fancy a game). Keep us updated to how you get on .

My first score on a 18 hole course was around the 180 mark, but I hit that one good shot that got me hooked, not improved to much but it is still good fun.

Cheers and enjoy.

Midnight...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Group lessons seem ok. My 6 year old daughter is taking them on sunday mornings and it seems to work for her. she is close to completing level 1 on her junior golf passport and i think at her age she wouldnt get the enjoyment out of 1 on 1 lessons and i guess it will be good to meet people at your golfing level aswell.

Thanks for the offer midnight i will probaly take you up on it at some time.

Hi TimH,
welcome to the forum.
Sounds like you are starting off with a good approach to golf by having lessons.
Good luck,
Fore. :)

Welcome to the forum, knock 5 shots off each round you play and all will be well!!

Don't be disheartened if the scores go the wrong way after lessons as sometimes happens.
