You couldn't make it up could you??

A young kid who would be a shoe in for the Curtis Cup decides to play in a Pro Major instead of attend a 'group training session' in the freezing cold at Nairn so they hoy her out the team!!

She would learn more that would stand her in good stead for the Curtis Cup in half a morning at the Kraft Nabisco and the event the week prior than she would in the whole weekend at Nairn IMO.

Crazy, selectors and officials feeling more important than the player? Appears that way.

Unreal.

They really don't want to win the Curtis Cup do they..?

I know they had to sign an undertaking that they would attend the "training" sessions but what training are they going to do that's better than competing in a Major Championship?

Charley Hull's made the right decision.

The LGU haven't.

according to the news item she could have attended the training and still gone to the Major which doesnt start till 4 days after the training finishes.

Might be more to this story than meets the eye.

Even if it clashed then the LGU should be proud and happy a member has been invited to play in a major, this can only strengthens the team imo.

What would have happened if she was ill and couldn't have made it?

Still punted her out? No,of course they wouldn't have.

Smells of faces fitting I think....just my opinion of course.;)

Silly old buzzards - "rules is rules" and all that :sbox:

I think at county level they are changing some of the funding so players can have more freedom as to their coaching/training and what they need as individuals. I doubt she'd get as much from a group training session as she will from competing in a pro event.

In the long run she has to do what's right for her future career and that's what she's done.

Does seem a political decision and one not based on what the golfer thinks is in her best interest. I get the need to team build and bond as a group but what will she get in the session that testing her game on a tough course won't give her. LGU flexing their muscles and trying to show no player is bigger than the Curtis Cup. Blinkered thinking - get into the 21st century

.

It also says that she was playing in Florida, so nobody is going to finish a tourmanent in Florida, Hop on a plane for a training session, then hop on another plane back to the US. What kind of preparation is that.

Very short sighted I think, some jobsworth is going to have sticky egg all over her face

Fragger

Given the situation, the LGU had to drop her. She didn't skip a "training session"...she skipped the team trials - after it had been made clear that only people who attended the trials would be considered for selection. They can't start making exceptions when things don't go their way.

FTA:

"“She said her decision was final,” Simpson said. “We tried to discuss it with her but she obviously has different ideas about what’s important to her."

Hull knew it was a choice between the Curtis Cup and the Kraft and chose the Kraft. 'Nuff said.
