Last Friday around 10pm one of the tall scot pine trees at the back of our garden fell down towards the house completely devastating the garage and its contents.

This morning was the first time that I saw the damage first hand in daylight as I went away on the Friday night and only just got back last night.

I was in the garage just a couple of hours earlier that night so I feel very lucky to still be here!

Try and spot one of my old clubs!

I know it's a terrible thing to happen, but when I look at those pictures, all I see is about 3 years of heating for my house... Get yourself a chainsaw and cut up that tree. If you can't use it, then stick it on eBay and make yourself some tidy profit....:D

Wow! Glad no one was hurt mate.... and hope you're up to date with your home insurance!

I see a big stack of firewood too, so best you fit a nice wood burner in your new garage.

Yikes!

Though is it really a Garage? Or a Full width (and posh) Shed?

Can you actually get access to put a vehicle in it? Can't see any tracks!

Yes, there are gates at right angles to the garage that open out to a general car park area. I don't use it much as a proper garage but its got (had) a double up and over motor driven door.

Not the best pics though admittedly.

I think I ought to keep some of that wood back and do exactly that. I cant have a wood burner very easily in the house (no real chimney) but yes sounds like a plan for the new garage. If allowed I may make provision for a small family room adjoining the new replacement garage when its built.

Do you think I would be permitted to turn the new garage 90 degrees so that it faces out to the access area and do away with the need for gates? They are pretty knackered now any way.

What a mess! Glad you wasn't injured. Those trees are huge but so shallow rooted it's a wonder they survive any sort of wind. Just make sure you claim a little extra because there are always stuff in the garage you forget about and fail to claim for.
