Tigers sore back....

I don’t know about you, but if your backs going into spasm you just can’t play golf......no way.
I’m sure his back was sore but when he went down on his knees after seeing his shot go way left, for me it was pure theatre.

I tend to agree, tour pros over react to most things (missed putts, poor drives etc etc), he would STOP if he was really hurting/injured - he's not an idiot, he wouldn't want to be making it worse.

I'm sure it was sore, aching or perhaps even responsible for that bad shot but I doubt you could endure pain that puts you to your knees and then carry on swinging at full tilt. I should know, having dropped to the floor in agony several times

If you are susceptible to back spasms and are having them - then attempting to playing golf is not a starter. I had sciatica a few years ago and couldn't play golf for a few months. Indeed a lot of the time I couldn't stand up. If he does have back spasms then he needs to get treatment and not be playing golf.

Agreed, when my back went if I had gone down on my knees I could not have got up again, no more golf for about 4 weeks after it

When I was suffering sciatica it was a total disabler. Had a spasm come on when in the pharmacy and had to go (crawl) into their consulting room and lie down on the floor - sheer unmitigated agony...

Tiger said it went it to a spasm in his post round interview. Is that official enough?

That'll do. Haven't been able to see it but all write ups I read just mention back pain. Only time I heard spasm was from the commentators.

If it was spasm then must have been the weakest and shortest duration spasm ever.

Woods does actually suffer from a particular type of back spasm.
It's quite rare and unusual in that it only flares up after hitting a bad shot!

Slime.

I have to say having played with a bad back there is no way I could just stroll off like Tiger does once he is up there, I was walking like i'd had an accident on the way to the loo....

Maybe he should take some time off from practicing golf to brush up on his amateur dramaics

oh God, Monday morning and out come the 'we hate Tiger posts'...............this is really getting tedious:(

It's not tiger bashing but he doesn't have any trouble with it and for me hits one of the shots of the season on the 5th (flop shot) but as soon as he double crosses himself and shops it 40yrds left, the back goes.......

......just saying

I'd imagine that the term spasm was used in a descriptive sense rather than a diagnostic sense (I don't remember Tiger being qualified as a medical doctor or muscular specialist so I'm gonna guess the former)

So a player tells the press what it was like and the online world debate the validity of what he's said. Incredible!

A lot of speculation on here, only Tiger knows if it was an act or back trouble, because some have experience of back pain/trouble does not mean it is the same as everyone else, you can still walk with a broken leg.

Nothing wrong with him. It's widely known he loves to roll out the sick note card.

That crouch he acted after the huge pull was laughable.

I didn't see said incident but to be fair to him, he did stop playing after 9 holes of the Pro-Am because of a bad back and was seen to be stretching regularly all week. Before he gets knocked for only playing 9 in the pro-am, he stayed on the course walking with his partners, offered advice on their games & shots etc etc. He was apparently better company when he stopped playing and spent more time with them.

Not saying he didn't over act on the incident in question and "back spasm" is probably a bit of an exaggeration, but he did\does have a back injury of some sort.

I've been playing golf with back issue for years now - and quite often I end up collapsing in a similar way. Like Tiger's it is actually quite often after a bad shot.
I suppose if you get your body into the wrong positions/movements it is more likely to cause pain, as a good swing/shot is normally fine.

Not very well - I've tried!

I agree. I believe it was more someone from the Press suggesting it and Tiger agreeing.

Its not that rare actually... it would seem one of my golfing partners has the same injury... and that once he duffs it off the tee or hits it into the cabbage he suddenly goes ooooh :( grabs his back and hobbles off the tee!! Funnily enough he's been ok for a while and this debilitating injury seems to have been cured... maybe its since hes been hitting 40 plus points three times running and winning the money!!!

As for Tiger? Well the man need to get some Blonde "loving" massages obviously!! Or hit the ball straight....;)
