Tiger wins

Re: He's back

i seen some wild tee shots from others aswell and it's true,he has never been that great with the driver.nowhere near as good as he is with his irons.

Re: He's back

Sorry Murph but this isn't for real surely. Yes he hit a few wild ones but he always has. Seve was the same and there have been plenty of others through the years that would never worry the FIR top 10 but could close out tournaments. Woods is still in a transitional phase and if he can get another 10% accuarcy and reliability out of the driver it could get interesting next year.

Re: He's back

Remember his last two swing changes took a couple years to develop. Only difference this time, is the emotional turmoil he has had to endure through this Foley saga.

Who else has made drastic changes to their swing and continued to be successful?? Shoot, alot of players go down hill just changing their equipment.
I wonder how Luke, Mcilroy or Westwood would fare if they were to change their swings?

Re: He's back

It was exciting to watch, and his short game is definitely back. Putting better too. I like to see some emotion on the course, and when Woods is holing putts, there is certainly emotion. Glad he is back.

But his swing?

Nasty. He has no idea where his driver is going, and only really seems comfortable off the tee hitting his stinger 2i. His shorter irons look pretty tidy, but any club he tries to give some welly is a disaster waiting to happen. He should at least know if it is going to go left or right at his level.

This two plane swing thing does not work for me either.

He is still dipping into the shot.

Not nice.

Oh, and it is really not his fault that the cameras would rather follow him round the practice green than show someone else out on the course.

Check this one out Murph.....I think Mr. Player seems to know what he is taking about with Tiger. ;)

Re: He's back

as above,i enjoyed watching that gary player swing analysis of tiger.

not many players have that problem, the majority of players work well with holding the right elbow to their body.the only player that loses this connection a little bit that i have noticed is darren clarke.it's not as bad as this video shows tiger but it's not where it should be.

Competely disagree with this. His swing is as good as it's ever been, its his short game and especially his putting, that isn't quite back yet. And Tiger has always "dipped" and so have many of the greatest players in history. Its just a sign of a good deep hip turn, which is am incredibly good thing, but just looks more pronounced on Tiger...

Awesome that he could still win like that even with his B game. I mean, him and Zach beat the field by 4 and 5 shots, but Zach had to play "some of his best golf all year" AND hole 2 shots from the fairway to do it.... whereas Tiger just had to play some very average golf!! I don't think this means he is back 100% yet as it is not a proper test, but it will do him a world of good to get those competetive juices flowing and get his confidence back, and it is definitely a sign that things are getting better.

his play on the day 3 and 4 was certainly not very good and you could see he was struggling but his play on day 1 and day 2 was certainly not average.the 2nd shots he was playing into the par 5's were brilliant.the 5 iron from the left rough with a ball below feet lie to something liek 4ft.then the 3 wood from 270 yrds out to about 6ft at the very most on another.

Re: He's back

Oh dear fanboys. Off you all go again. Your philandering hero returns eh??

Yes, the decency vacuum that is Tiger Woods has invited 17 mates to his own tournament during a week where all the in-form elite golfers of the day are off playing in proper tournaments and he's lucked out after a couple of good shots to win. Big deal.

I would advise you to just hold off from putting your posters back on your bedroom walls for a few weeks until he plays well and competes against McIlroy, Westwood, Donald and co. But don't hold your breath............

Cheers,

Snelly.

Agree with you to a certain degree Snelly. In boxing parlance, he is ducking the big fights. I was in the States when he made his big comeback at... The Frys.com Open  Highest world ranked player in the field was the world's most out of form player Paul Casey.

But, if I was trying to manage a return to tournament golf after a major absence, loss of form and confidence, this is exactly what I'd do. Start gently, at smaller tournaments with easier fields. Get some confidence back and build slowly. Nothing wrong with that.

BUT THIS IS TIGER WOODS!!

The field, at any event, should be quaking at the thought of his return :smirk:

Problem he now has, and other people have said this on here before now, is the fact he has lost his aura. Other players no longer fear him and feel that they, potentially, stand as gooder chance as anyone at winning the tournament if they remembered to pack their "A" game.
