Tiger Who?? Past History!!

I believe Rory has got the game to win a lot more majors, howeverone good win doesnt make him unbeatable,Tiger was unbeatable at times.
I agree with others, this was nowhere near a tough course and the soft greens made it easier and there for the taking.
When Tiger won by 15 shots he was the only one under par, that was a great round.
I believe Tiger will be back, and win more majors.
When Tiger was in his prime his odds for every tournament was 2/1 or less,i for one dont think Rory will be that big a favorite for any tournament.
Also people have mentioned he was groomed for stardom, like Lewis hamilton, like Tiger and many more,so what imo, hundreds of thousands of kids are groomed for stardom but very few make it.
The good thing about Rorys win, like Harringtons it will make european golf stronger than it is now, surely a good thing.

Lads this nonsense talk about Gerry being paid to give up work is not right. I used to work with him years ago in the Four Winds bar/restaurant on the outskirts of south Belfast back when Rory was a young'un, when it changed hands he worked in a rugby club and clandeboye golf club. As far as j am aware he made time to take Rory around. He still had to work.
Let the lad enjoy his success without having to throw rumours and here'say in. Fact of the matter is a guy from a relatively modest background did good, just be happy for him.

Is the correct answer.

he is a golfing god and I claim him on behalf of all us Brits :D :D

To be fair I do support all the Brits not just the English guys so dont go excluding the rest of us :p :p

This quote isn't about Rory really being a golfing god, or about whether Northern Island is in Britain or GB or if we are all European's or a slur on any of the other Pro's of what their families did............

It's me after a few beers having watched a great player impressivly take a win that I was really really hoping he would and celebrating!!

I am suprised my smilies were not commented on - come on guys!!

It was a fantastic display and at 22 years old it was so impressive to get over the Masters so quickly.

I must stop drinking when posting :D

Cant see him winning the "open" he'll still have a hangover,
at the moment he's just another golfer who's had a good
tournament, lets not get too carried away.

I think the opposite.
I'll bet he can't wait for the Open. He will now have the confidence to play 4 good rounds and not be waiting for the bad one as he has done in the passed.

The people in the know have always said that golfers cant play 4 good rounds, they always throw in a bad one. Now Rory knows thats rubbish.

And as for him being just another pro who had a good round, you just have to listen to the people who know him and his game best, his peers.
His fellow competitors can't seem to praise him high enough and that includes the best that ever played the game.

Good luck to him. With that swing, game, and belief, there's nothing much he can't achieve in the game.

I don't get the sour grapes. Rooting for Rory to win then as soon as he does, can't wait to knock him - as bad, if not worse than the usual bunch of hacks in the press - and you're not even being paid to do it.

and you're forgetting the six degrees of separation - which makes you all his 56th cousin, 13 times removed

I can claim English, Irish, Welsh, Scots, Norman French (there is a difference!) and Viking connections - some very distantly - and I am in complete harmony luxuriating in a UK/Euro winner.

Whether Rory wins the important one, The Open, isn't as important as that a UK/Euro does (I'd really like it to be Lee, and if Rory, Sergio, GMac et al were all in the mix, so much the better).
