Tiger sacks steve williams

Interesting, was watching the golf a few weeks back and Butch was commentating with someone else. The other fella said something about Williams being on Scott's bag but said "temporarily of course" to which butch replied "you sure about that?"

At the time I thought it sounded like Butch knew something but didn't think any more of it but maybe he did

Yes but knowing Graham Spiers he would have turned it into a 27 page document using every word in the dictionary just for the hell of it.

You're right!
I'm amazed he manages to fit all he has to say into 140 letters. I always picture him sitting in his tweed jacket (leather elbow patches) rubbing his chim with a thoughtful squint when I read his tweets.

He's a keen golfer though and in the close season he's been about the Country playing and reviewing. He also played in the Pro-Am At CS with Gary Woodland.

Considering Williams age and Tigers wild driving, this is a good move. Can't be healthy for him carrying that heavy bag all those extra miles deep into the forest, through the long grass, over to adjacent fairways!

Not really much of a surprise though, is it? Woods has been with Williams since '95, so that's 16 years with the same caddy whereas other golfers are known to chop and change.

Fluff Cowan was on the bag in Tigers 97 Masters win so it was later than 95 Williams got Woods bag.

It was 1999 iirc , 12 years in total. Been on the bag for 13 of his 14 majors

Ah, that'll teach me for considering Sky Sports as a credible source :p

You would think tho after all that time & that success they would have announced they were going their seperate ways by mutual agreement .. (even if they werent) .. knobs the 2 of them ..

They have gone their seperate ways. End of.

None of them are ever going to be poor.

Lets concentrate on a fabulous week of golf, Nordea Masters, Evian Masters and the Seniors British Open.

Hawkeye

I remember that, it was at the US Open, and I thought it was a strange thing to say.

Must say I'm not a great fan of Williams. Didn't he take off his bib when Woods was playing GMac in a comp towards the end of last year, just as GMac had a 30 foot putt to equal Woods score. If I remember GMac holed the putt and then went on to beat Woods in the play off. Good.

Given Adam Scott's game over the last couple of years, perhaps Williams fancied a part-time job that enabled him to spend more weekends with his family? :D

Surprised Woods didn't make the announcement on the eve of The Open, that's what he usually does to try and get some attention.

Quite pleased Stevie is giving him a bit of a doing in the media and speaking his mind, I think Tiger is surrounding himself with yes men who won't stand up to him and think the insular bubble world in which he lives is getting even smaller.

I never cared for Williams as a caddie but respect him now for speaking out.

Intrigued to see who Woods wants on his bag.

Not a fan of Williams and think some of his behaviour both on and off the course has been crass. I wonder how good a caddie he still is having perhaps had an easy ride when Tiger was at his pomp and playing the game with such ease and then using Tigers personal life and injuries as a barrier when things got tough.

I guess we'll see how he handles the demands of working for Scott and how well they do. My money is on them lasting no more than six months together.

It'll be interesting to see who Tiger thinks will do a better job than Williams.

lets be fair here, anyone could carry his bag and repeat yardages when Tiger was at his peak, he was ahead and a different class to everyone.
Did you know that Tiger has made Williams the highest paid sportsperson in New Zealand
