Tiger for a win today?

Wow, just can't please some people. Scores 2 lower than anyone else competing, which included 5 of the world's top 10, and apparently this still isn't a real win.

Of course golf being golf, chances are he won't win the US Open and the naysayers can sit back and say "told you so". Ah well, I guess the world would be boring if we didn't disagree.

Golf being what it is form is hard to read. This weekend Tiger had form, he had a smile, he was in control of all parts of his game and head,he won. You can't say he's back but he's well on his way and if he can play more like he played this weekend a fool would be against him.

It was a very good win for Tiger & a stepping stone back towards where he was. He won against a great field & would have got more confidence with Fowler shooting 84 in his presence. He still needs to show this form in a major. He has had two wins on courses where he has dominated in the past. He will be back if & when he wins a major. If he does it will be the spring board for more, but if he fails it will become harder & harder to reach the level he achieved before. I think the game of golf is bigger than any one player & I think it is equally as interesting without him being in contention as when he is.

What I find strange with the 'he's not back' statements, is that 95% of PGA players wood consider 2 wins in a season (and prestigious tournaments too) to be a superb season. Why is this not the same for tiger? Is it just because of his prolific previous seasons?

..like equalling Jacks PGA tour wins in a much shorter time frame:rolleyes:............why dont you just say you cant stand him rather than troll the thread with feeble reasons demeaning him and his golf!

Sorry for upsetting you but that wasn't my intention, just putting the other point of view.

This thread is turning a bit ridiculous. I've been firmly on the 'he's done' side of the fence for a while but you really can't deny what he did this weekend.

As I said, I still don't think he will win the US Open but he's definitely on the up.

I go away for two weeks and come back to another Tiger thread, glad to see nothing changes. :D

At the end of last year the naysayers were claiming he was finished and wouldn't win again and then he won the limited field event he hosts and got dismissed because it was a limited field yet the same week Westwood won in another limited field event, that I believe had less players, and no-one batted an eye lid.

Then he wins the Arnold Palmer and people say it wasn't a strong field, then he wins again (second time this year, which when you consider most players won't win twice in their life despite playing in more tournaments with worse fields than the memorial, is a pretty incredible thing to do) and despite 5 of the world's top 10 being in the field he gets knocked because he didn't play well at the masters and we're told we have to wait and see how he competes at the majors.

If he wins the US Open we'll no doubt be told that he's proved nothing until he wins another major.

Like him or not, he's still one of the best players to have ever played the game, Tiger isn't back, just back to winning ways and I for one find golf a much more interesting to watch when Tiger is on top of his game
