We are thinking of having an end of season 3 way comp between Seniors/Rabbits/Ladies sections.
Have any of your clubs run one like this if so what format did it take? or have any of you any ideas of how we should run it so it would be competitive for each section?

Play in 3 balls one from each section, stableford points. winner gets 4 2nd gets 2 loser gets the first round in. All points added up onto a scoreboard as you come in, best team wins

This.

We used to run a Village competition. Teams of 6 representing various towns and villages in the area. Mixed the groups up so that each 3 ball consisted of a player from a different "village". 3/2/1 pts to the winner/second/third of each group. Bonus point for the highest individual stableford score. Bonus point for the highest combined team score (st'ford points).

Watching the results roll in was like watching Eurovision results come in. Best fun day of the year in my opinion.

I like this idea. Maybe Gents/Ladies/Juniors. Could be a seasons opener or indeed finale…with the Captains and then the vice-captains of each section grouped together.

We have been doing this for a few years. Format has changed but this year we did this and it seemed to work. We had teams from juniors, seniors, ladies, mixed and men’s teams from the various leagues the club plays in during the season. There were six players in each team. Format was 4BBB Stableford. There was an individual prize for the best 4BBB score but the main trophy is for the team event. To determine the winning team, the average of the three team scores is used.

Do you have a decent amount of juniors?
Loads…we have a very active and competitive junior section…and as it’s just lost Lottie Woad to Florida State Uni. they are now all competing hard to be the new ‘top dog’. Plus our Ladies section is also very competitive both locally and wider.

We have 2 annual General v Seniors v Vets v Ladies events - Usually teams of 12-15 people. Needs to be perfectly balanced!

Individual Stableford scoring

Team with the most total points wins!

Try playing a 3 ball Cha Cha Cha comp. 1st hole mark the best gross score on the card, 2nd hole mark the 2 best scores, 3rd hole mark all 3 scores.
Repeat process every 3 holes.
Use the same h/c allowances as in Texas Scrambles.

When I was a member at tain there used to be the Dornoch Bridge match, which was Dornoch vs, tain vs Brora vs Golspie. Was played at an 8 ball. Pairs bb and the most points won as far as I remember it. It was good fun, not sure they do it that way any longer
