thread to report issues/requests related to new forum format

Seems better on 8.1.1. Still an initial jump down when the ad loads but that's what you'd expect and it's fairly instant and doesn't then jump back up and down again.

Spoke too soon. Seems it actually depends on which advert is being served. Some cause it to jump around, others are ok.

Can always switch to mobile mode but I'm afraid this update, with this and other formatting issues, has impacted quite negatively on the user experience with iPad.

Hi Karen
i think i did say early doors that there is always some sort of compromise on things like this and tablet was probably the fomat that works least well. However that's the platform where we get the smallest amount of traffic from (mobile 1, desktop 2 and tablet 3) so we have to go where the traffic is
that said I'm just not having the issues you report when I look the forum in my ipad in full site mode. rich media ads do take a little while to load but we are only talking 1-2 seconds

Yeah Mike, totally understand. Site looks good on a PC and is still perfectly useable on the ipad.

I've started a new thread on this so apologies as I didn't see this one. But to reiterate, the way the screen jumps around on a PC when you load a page and the advert then loads is very annoying. Completely understand the need to have adverts as bills have to be paid, but to me it should not distract from the user experience in any way. And they now are.

we are talking about 1-2 seconds at worst. If this impinges on your user experience I'm sorry. Not really sure what more I can add

MODS,

williamalex1 has contacted me via text to say that he's unable to log in due to password problems. He has tried to reset this without success- it keeps blocking him out.

He has asked for help, otherwise he might have to spend his nights chatting to the missus; a dire situation.

Could someone who is willing to liaise with him PM me and I'll give you his email address?

Help the aged, come on.

:D

Haven't read the thread but, on android (S4 stock browser) the buttons don't appear on the post editor, quick reply and advanced.

Not sure if this is the coerrect place but how do I stop getting email notifications to threads that have been posted in?
I've tried going into settings and stopped emails where I can and also Unsubscribed but they still keep coming!

When using my Kindle HD Fire on the main forum site my screen has a visible flicker. It did not do this before the new format was rolled out, and does not flicker on other sites or applications, so it is not the unit.
