Things That Gladden The Heart

I'm not an "opportunist" complainer type of customer but I'd certainly go OTT if I saw a rat in a restaurant.
I'd genuinely, and reasonably, demand my whole bill cancelled, for the stay as well, and promise them all hell in terms of reviews and follow ups if they resisted.
And even then, I'd "rat" them out.

I'd get up and leave on first sight.

People are strange about London, there is almost a badge of honour to be reactionary about it. We were there a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. I could happily go another 5 years before returning though. It's a full on place and it's not for everyone. Lots of great parts to it, it's one of the great cities of the world.

Of course London is a marvellous place, and has many great things about it…It’s just that it absolutely isn’t anything like as good as it used to be 20-25 years ago and it is going downhill pretty fast - esp in the last 10 years..

IN.MY.OPINION of course 😉

I am currently in Bournemouth.
I won’t reveal the hotel name at the moment.
If when I leave on Wednesday things are not resolved to my satisfaction I shall name the hotel.

I think that’s fair
I thought it was going to be some semi-exotic third world place. 🤣
At least it's not Mansfield; you'd be complaining about feral yoofs rather than rats.
Only been to Bournemouth a couple of times on work related day-trips. I wasn't enamoured.
Hope things pick up.

Think you are being very fair, too many people nowadays just go full on complaining and posting everything on the net without giving the place time to sort things out.

PS - why is this in the Gladden the Heart thread? 🤣

It is in this thread as to start with I got given a free room upgrade which gladdened my heart.

I thought I would just stay here for continuity purposes and I’m still hopeful of a happy ending.

Anyway back to enjoying the wonder that is Bournemouth and enjoying my break.

The manager came and saw us this morning, was extremely apologetic and explained they had called in the experts.

She also apologised for the
attitude of the waiter.

She seemed genuinely sorry and concerned rather than just trying to palm us off.

So that’s the end of it as far as im concerned.

Currently been in primark for an hour though and it’s got to the point where I’m desperately searching around hoping to find another rat just so I can run out 😂

Every morning there is a car that parks near a pedestrian crossing for the school and near a roundabout - it causes lots of traffic issues , the car is from someone who lives 5 mins walking to the school, normally once the kids are dropped the driver then goes to Co Op - parks in the disabled spot ( it’s 5 mins walking) then goes home

Today she was collared by the police , looks like issued with a fine etc to lots of cheering people

It will be interesting to see if the car is there tomorrow morning

I’ve been to Halesowen in Birmingham today. Sadly, I have no images to post to allow a forum vote regarding which one of us had the best view.
Surprised you got out alive if you went anywhere near Birmingham war zones are safer 🤣

I'm surprised you like that sort of view - looks a bit Christmassy to me ;) :D

I prefer the bits without the trees where the people are suffering and feeling weak because they’re cold just like my heart 💙 🤣

But even a grinch like me can’t help but be in awe of the natural beauty of the place

Paid a barber to cut hair and trim beard this morning, usually do it myself but thought I get a pro in for hols. First time paying for it in many years
Wife tagged along and got her hair washed/cut too

In & out in no time & both done for under 30quid total. Feared it'd be a lot worse than that

Oh what a morning

After yesterday episode you would expect a lesson to be learned

But nope - parked even closer to the pedestrian crossing and it seems the police were waiting , as she walked down the alley to the school they went across and seized the car 😂

As we walked back she was there screaming at them as they were waiting for a tow truck I suspect , looks like she will need to walk home and then get her car back - I wonder if that may help sink in
